I could only assume that he has not been made aware of the true situation by the
people responsible in solving the lack of power supply in Mindanao, including the implementation of the modular gensets program,” said Masongsong. The Mindanao Modular Generator Sets (Gensets) Program was launched in July 12, 2013 by virtue of Executive Order No. 137 with a funding of Php 4.5 billion from the Malampaya Fund as a stop-gap measure to provide the much-need additional power supply in Mindanao.
He said: “In as much as we appreciate the government’s efforts to mitigate the effects of the worsening problem of power shortage, we are yet to see the positive results in the implementation of the modular gensets program.” “Gensets are not given free and use expensive fuel. They are considered as a standby power source used mostly during emergency situations. Evidently, the government has yet to accomplish its objective not
