Gov’t agency faces probe over multi- billion scam ANOTHER PDAF SUSPECT. President Benigno S. Aquino III wants an investigation into the alleged involvement of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) in the multibillion peso Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam which the Commission on Audit (COA) recently unearthed according to reports. Speaking to reporters on Monday, President Aquino said he already tasked Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr., Cabinet Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, and Budget Secretary Florencio Abad to come up with a thorough report on the matter as soon as possible. Student in shooting rage; kills classmate The Agus VI HEP is a 200 MW hydroelectric power plant. It is the oldest among

the six (6) cascading power plants. With five (5) generating units, Agus VI has proven to be a steady source of electric power in Mindanao. Construction of the project was authorized by the late President Elpidio Quirino. Units 1 (25 MW) and 2 (25 MW) of the power plant were commissioned in the early 1950s. After more than fifty years of operation, these two (2) generating units are now due for complete rehabilitation and up-rating. The Agus VI HEP Plant was originally known as the Maria Cristina Falls Hydroelectric Plant, named after the famous scenic waterfalls just 100 meters in the background. The majestic and imposing waterfalls cascades from around 320 feet down to a sheer cliff and is a sight to behold. (Napocor)

MISAMIS ORIENTAL -- A high school student went into a shooting rage Monday afternoon in a remote village in the farming town of Claveria, Misamis Oriental, killing a classmate, the police said on Tuesday. The suspect identified as Nico Labastida, 19, of Madaging, Claveria also tried to shoot the school

principal who tried to pacify him. However, the firearm – a .45 caliber pistol jammed – saving the principal’s life, police investigators said. Inspector Roque Neri, the town police chief, identified the fatality as John Rey Balaynon, 19, of Rizal, Claveria, who succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on the left chest. CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – The military and police in Northern Mindanao scrambled to a heightened alert following the discovery of two improvised explosives along the highways in Lanao Del Sur Monday afternoon, a military official said on Tuesday. Capt. Christian Uy,

spokesperson of the army’s Public Affairs Division here, said that the improvised explosives were reportedly recovered along the highways of Nungnugan, Lanao Del Sur Monday afternoon by elements of the army’s 65th Infantry Batallion.
