MISAMIS ORIENTAL – The lone x-ray machine installed at the Laguindingan Airport (LA) in Misamis Oriental has malfunctioned prompting airport officials to employ stricter security measures there. Officials at the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said that the x-ray machines had malfunctioned at the time when top security officials and Interior Secretary Mar Roxas arrived Tuesday to chair a security briefing in Cagayan de Oro City.

AVAO City––The flash flood that struck four barangays in Matanao, Davao del Sur on Monday resulted to the death of one farmer, damage in crops and infrastructure and affected 12 families. In a report to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the Office of Civil Defense in the region accounted the death of 60-year old farmer Erme Esperanza who drowned after he was swept away by the flood water while tending his carabao at about 4:30 pm on August 12.

SURIGAO City––The Election Registration Board (ERB) here has conducted a series of hearings involving “questionable” registrants for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections this October.
