716,000 evacuated due to ‘Ruby’
THE National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Sunday reported that 716,639 persons conducted pre-emptive evacuations due to the effects of Typhoon “Ruby.” NDRMMC, in its 6 a.m. situationer report said 146,875 families or 716,639 persons have been evacuated in safer areas in Regions 4-A (Calabarzon), 4-B (Mimaropa), 5 (Bicol), 6 (Western Visayas), 7 (Central Visayas), 8 (Eastern Visayas) and Caraga Region in Mindanao. It added that 2,459 passengers, 89 rolling cargoes, 689 vessels and three motor boats were stranded in various ports of the country while 92 domestic flights have been cancelled. Power outages were reported in the provinces of Quezon, Iloilo, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Leyte and Southern Leyte. Media ng Bayan

City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s pronouncement on several occasions that he prefers federalism to help address the unrest in Mindanao rather than the proposed establishment of the Bangsamoro. “I respect their view. But the MILF will not endorse it nor reject it,” said Iqbal, who also chairs the Bangsamoro Transition Commission.
SIX provinces are without power due to the devastation of Typhoon “Ruby”, said the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Sunday. The provinces without power are Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Sorsogon, Leyte, Iloilo and Bohol. Based on the NGCP’s 3:00 p.m. update, the provinces have been left without power due to the following electric cooperatives in the areas affected by the typhoon -- NORSAMLECO, ESAMELCO, SOLECO, DORELCO, SAMELCO, BILECO, LEYECO 2, LEYECO 3, LEYECO 4, LEYECO 5, ILECO 3, BOHECO and BOHECO 2.
