Solon defends ‘pork’ CAGAYAN de Oro City–– Rep. Rufus Rodriguez, of Cagayan de Oro City’s 2nd District, on Tuesday defended the pork barrel funds as he called it an “equalizing force” by the lawmakers in helping their constituents. He even criticized people and government officials who wanted the abolition of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or “pork barrel.” “Sa mga nagsulti nga i-abolish, siguro wala sila kahibalo sa ilang gisulti kay wala man sila makakita kung gi-unsa sa usa ka congressman ang iyang pork barrel,” (For those who want the abolition of the PDAF, they do not know how a Congressman disposes the “pork barrel”), Rodriguez said. The activity went without a hitch despite fears spawned by the July 26 bombing in Limketkai’s Rosario Arcade. The icons of Tiano brothers, the students reserve corps, and majorettes of a drum and lyre corps are just among the highlights of the civic and military parade. MIndanao Daily News photos by Gerry L.
