MKA Culinary Batch 17 pioneers Immersion-for-a-Cause
M
onster Kitchen Academy certainly knows how to style its immersions with flair! Last September 6, the MKA Fundamentals in Culinary Arts Batch 17 held a dinner-concertfor-a-cause dubbed “Senses: A Taste of Kumbira” for the benefit of their friend Joan Ysabelle Tolentino at Lantaw Cagayan in Upper Carmen. Not only were the proceeds of the immersion donated to the beneficiary, the fine dining set-up also featured performances by some of Cagayan de Oro’s finest musicians and entertainers who also volunteered their time and talents for the cause! Among
them, Host Manuel Tan and musicians Ian Neur, Jenz Peak, Oreo Vamenta, and Vivi. Monster Kitchen Academy, without question Cagayan de Oro’s most popular and successful Baking and Culinary school, requires all its Culinary Arts or Baking & Pastry Arts students to undergo mandatory immersion where the batch is tested in the field by hosting a real-life event which they themselves plan, finance and execute. “This enables our students to personally experience how to work in a real kitchen and apply the skills that they learned in class, which has proven to be immersion/PAGE 7
