wo of Cagayan de Oro City’s foremost champions of promoting music at the grassroots are coming together to make a long cherished dream come true. Directors of Liceo de Cagayan University’s Conservatory of Music have been meeting with officials of Paterno Velez Foundation to link the former with the Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School (MOGCHS) to upgrade the quality of music learning and appreciation among their students and the musicloving public.
“If we want to raise the quality of music in the city, we have to start as early as possible,” says Horst-Hans Bäcker, director of the Liceo Music Conservatory. “It’s like a pyramid, we need a wide base from which to choose the best students so we can have a solid, competent core of musicians to build on at the higher level.” partnership/PAGE 10

During my infrequent trips to Metro Manila, I’ve often wondered what was being constructed over Andrews Avenue and NAIA Expressway to Newport City from NAIA Terminal 3. I rather wished it was a pedestrian walkway similar to the one which used to link the defunct Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong to an airport hotel which was very convenient for
passengers in transit. After a harrowing experience of having to wait almost three hours for a taxi ride to our destination from NAIA T3, I believed many passengers in those queues wished similarly. During our family’s latest visit to the capital last week, we finally had an answer and what an answer it was! Completed in only four months from runway/PAGE 11
ON the occasion of the fiesta in their own barangay, the Bugo Eagles Club held a two-day Ultimate (Frisbee) open at the Philippine Southfield School campus last April 29 to 30. There were ten mixed gender clubs which joined the tilt. They were Taul, Indios, Churba, Pax U, Batalyon, Hype Ultimate, Ganja Adik, Pakin United, Heads Up, BLU, Camp
Philips and Safe Ro. Since the Ultimate Frisbee Challenge (Labay Pasa Salo sa Agila) was an open tourney, it garnered clubs from as far as Tagoloan (Misamis Oriental), Iligan City and the province of Bukidnon. Churba became the champions with Safe Ra as first runner-up followed by Blu (second runner-up), Pakin (third runner-up) and
CPU as most spirited team. Tournament MVP was Aldrits of Batalyon for the males and Ces/Kakay of Taul for the female category. The championship/ finals MVP were Binoy of Churba for the males and Jho of Blu for the females. According to Bugo Eagles Club president Zoe Curiano, they were inspired to hold a tourney through frisbee/PAGE 11
