IIEE, MCPC to present

IMEM Experience T he Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines-Northern Mindanao (IIEE-NM) and the Mindanao Coalition of Power Consumers have joined forces to present the Interim Mindanao Electricity Market (IMEM) experience in the Mindanao Power Forum Update II scheduled on Friday, 28 March 2014 at the Emerald 2 Ballroom, Limketkai Luxe Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City. “We are inviting the general public, especially consumer groups, distribution utilities (DUs) and generation companies (GENCOs) to join us in this forum where the MCPC will share their findings about the first month of IMEM operations in Mindanao,” said Engr. The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) through a press conference with the Cagayan de Oro Press Club (COPC) today urges taxpayers to be mindful of the deadline of submission of Income Tax Return (ITR) set on April 15. The deadline is not only for the 2013 ITR but also for the first quarter of 2014. Everyone must submit except employees whose taxes are withheld per month. Form 2316 is the substitute for ITR. Atty. Cherry Ibaoc of the Revenue District Office (RDO) 98, Cagayan de Oro, said that we have a ‘SelfAssessing System’ wherein a taxpayer must declare voluntarily his income

without being forced by the BIR. The BIR will then compute the due tax. However, they can also investigate the taxpayer’s declared income. M e a n w h i l e At t y. Photography enthusiasts gather for Flash photography workshop by Irene Joy B. Dayo

Over 200 participants coming from different parts of Cagayan de Oro City attended the photography workshop, March 15 at the Centrio Ayala Mall. Dubbed as “Flash: Let there be Light”, this event aims to help people who want to learn the craft of Photography. It is realized through the collaborated efforts of Fujifilm, Phottix, Colours Digital Foto and Vanguard. Three speakers are invited in the seminar.

First is Mr. Ricky Ladia, a strobist photographer reaching his 20 years in the field. Then, Mr. Rommel Bundalian, an award-winning street strobist photographer here in the country and abroad, and Mr. Alex Ruelo a strobist photographer specializing in wedding photography. that this seminar is for people to not forget the value of Photography. It could also be observed that smartphones are getting approach in photo market. In this, people are beginning to think that if they buy smartphones, they do not need cameras anymore in which Ms. Sommer refuse to believe because there is a big difference between smartphones and cameras. The speakers are also there to teach and orient Fujifilm camera users. Fujifilm has recently released its new series of

cameras believed to have a competitive quality. Models such as X21, Xpro1, XG1 and XG2 are ones that are good options other than digital single-lens reflex (DSLR), said Sommer. It is userfriendly and people using it would rather look like a tourist because of its size and qualities. “The thing is it’s nice to find something new and we want people to know the options,” she said.
