Philippine Institute for Skills and Arts Development (PISAD) 1st Commencement Exercises

he region’s premier school Philippine Institute for Skills and Arts Development (PISAD) and duly accredited by the Technical Education & Skills Development Authority (TESDA) had its 1st ever Commencement Exercises last December 27, 2014, 2:11 P.M. at Centrio Ayala Mall Event Center, Cagayan de Oro City. After finishing a total of 275 hours or a total of 35 days training period required by TESDA, 54 successful dressmakers graduated with flying colors during the commencement exercise which was attended by over 500 spectators, guests, visitors and the graduates themselves. The graduates are scholars of TESDA under PESFA and Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP Batches 1 and 2). TESDA with ISO standards gave National Certificates (NC 11) to these qualified graduates as they are prepared and honed their innate talents for global competitiveness in the field of garments and fashion industry in the region. Ms. Melody May ParrelPimentel-PISAD President, Fashion Institute Fashion ( F I P ) D i re c t re s s C D O Campus and Mindanao Fashion Icon welcomed the graduates to the highlights of the event with flying colors. Mimi Pimentel being trained in New York and London in high-end fashion designing told the graduates that she brought the fashion industry from these countries and make use of these extraordinar y skills she possessed for the dressmakers and up-coming designers of the region. Skills and Arts Development “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” The debonaire and active TESDA Provincial Director Leo Vega Velez in his inspiring message told the graduates that garments and fashion industry is a billion dollar earning revenue business in the world today. A bright future for employability to all these dressmakers await for them as they strive for global competitiveness and show to the local, and domestic industry their expertise and make revenues out of the skills they possess through PISAD & TESDA. With the upcoming 2 0 1 5 s h are d e c on om i c integration opportunities of the Block of Ten (10) nations to include the Philippines is a rare opportunity for Filipino skilled workers and show their talents for c omp e t it i ve i n du s t r i e s like garments making and fashion designing.
