resented by the Oro Fashion Designers Guild (OFDG) together with the Designers’ Assembly, the Mindanao Fashion Summit (MFS) officially opened its 5th edition yesterday (August 04, 2016) at the Rotunda Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City.
Considered as one of the core events of the city’s Higalaay Festival 2016, The 5th Mindanao Fashion Summit is a 3-day gathering and convergence of some of the most artistic and sought-after fashion designers of Mindanao showcasing their intricate yet creative designs on a runway to
the audience starting from August 04 to 06, 2016. This year, the MFS participating designers are said to become more connected to their crafts and confident in showing their imaginative craftsmanship, hence, solidifying the fashion community of Mindanao. During recognition rites for outstanding research and development projects held during the recent National Science and Technology
Week 2016 at a local restaurant in Cagayan de Oro, the Northern Mindanao Consortium for Health Research and Development (NorMinCoHRD) cited the following projects as some of its official entries to the 10th Philippine National Health Research System Week: “Utilization of Health Information for Policy Formulation, Priority Setting and Resource Allocation in Iligan City Health District

Researchers face formidable obstacles to raise PH R&D intensity By Mike Baños
In a 2004 paper, Bernie S. Justimbaste, Science & Technology Director for Planning and Evaluation, said the Philippines spent P 4.5 billion on R&D in 2002 (0.11 % of the country’s 2002 gross domestic product (GDP), down from 0.19 % in 1996 and 0.22 % in 1992. (Justimbaste, Improving the Philippine Research and Development Statistical System, 2004) Fourteen years, later, the R&D intensity of the country has not improved at all at
0.14%, even lower than the 0.19% in 1996 and 0.22% in 1992. In his opening remarks for the regional celebration of National Science and Technology Week 2016 held from July 23-26, Dept. of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 10, Director Alfonso P.
