SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPER SIGNS PARTNERSHIP WITH LAMUDI Property portal Lamudi showcases Primavera Residences, first ecofriendly Residential and commercial development in CDO

G

lobal property portal Lamudi is now listing the first ecofriendly property in Cagayan de Oro, through a new partnership with award-winning developer Italpinas Euroasian Design and EcoDevelopment Corporation (ITPI Corp). Primavera Residences is a new eco-friendly condo development in Cagayan de Oro, the capital city of Misamis Oriental province. Featuring high quality Italian design, the development is capable of generating its own energy, minimizing power usage and maximizing natural light and ventilation. Lamudi Philippines currently showcases 19 units from Primavera Residences on its platform. Jacqueline van den Ende, Cofounder and Managing Director of Lamudi Philippines, said the partnership with ITPI was the perfect match for the Lamudi website. “This partnership is line with our goal to bring quality properties from our trusted brokers and developers to all Filipinos, both here and abroad. Green living issues are becoming increasingly important to local househunters. For this reason, Lamudi hopes to make more sustainable developments like Primavera Residences available on its website,” she said. Primavera Residences employs passive cooling technology which allows for shadow and sunlight control, wind cooling and shape performance. As well

as offering great accessibility to schools, places of worship, transportation and commercial establishments, the ten-storey twin tower development is built to withstand typhoons and earthquakes. Architect Romolo Nati, CEO and Executive Chairman of ITPI, said sustainability is a key feature of all his company’s projects. “We look at the bigger picture and how our projects impact their surrounding environment. We have our own unique approach in property development that benefits not only our stakeholders and investors, but the local community and environment as well,” he said. Primavera Residences has unique built-in features that boost the development’s green credentials, Nati said. “Shadow control is provided by brise soleils and cantilevered edges, as well as scaling windows or terraces and adjusting them following orientation. The south-facing windows, for example, are smaller than those on the opposite side of the buildings. The internal vertical atrium found in both towers is an efficient wind cooling system that enhances the cross section layout of the units,” he added. With CDO’s growing economy and progressive energy, ITPI President Atty. Jojo Leviste explained that developers should make sound real estate and infrastructure decisions, in order to keep up with the city’s bright future.

“Nature has in recent years brought great difficulty in the form of storms and flooding. The challenge in the present is to change our thinking to envision the future CDO, which will be better equipped to withstand a repeat of these natural disasters,” he said. Lamudi recently released new research that revealed demand for ecofriendly homes and office space is skyrocketing in emerging markets. The analysis of more than half a million property listings

from the Lamudi website showed that Asia and Latin America have seen a dramatic increase in the number of environmentally friendly homes available to buy or rent. Lamudi.com.ph, which started operations in January this year, has over 60,000 residential and commercial property listings from developers and PRC licensed brokers, with that number growing fast. The company has active offices in Manila, Cebu and Davao.

he Battle of Champions 2014 took place at the Xavier University gym, August 16. Gracing the city with their athletic prowess were the Ateneo de Manila Women’s Volleyball Team and National University Women’s Volleyball Team slugged it out in front of the packed crowd. Exhibition matches prior to the main event were played by Xavier University, Ateneo de Davao University, Saint Mary’s School and Xavier University College women’s volleyball teams. Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno thanked the organizers and everyone that was present in the event. “This is the first time that an event like

this has ever happened in the history of the city and in the history of both collegiate teams. This is the first in Mindanao and we are proud that this happened in the City of Cagayan de Oro”. A lot of talented athletes from the other games wowed the crowd as they showed their potential to be playing later on in bigger tournaments. One is Ateneo de Davao’s CJ Concon, which mesmerized the people with her hard hitting spikes and her all around plays. Something that we people from the south can be proud of as well is that 2 players from both the Ateneo de Manila WVT and National University WVT are from Mindanao. The Captain of the NU WVT,

Siemens Desiree J. Dadang plays middle hitter and hails from Valencia City, Bukidnon. While the a senior of the Ateneo de Manila WVT who stands at a staggering 6’1” and plays middle hitter as well is Mary Mae A. Tajima who hails from Davao. Both teams entered the courts with children as their escorts. This reminds the players that there are children who are watching them play and that in the spirit of sportsmanship they are there to become role models for future generations. With the success of the event, kids from the stands and younger players are inspired even more to dream bigger and train harder to reach the capabilities of their idols. GP

DOES EVERYBODY HAVE A GUARDIAN ANGEL?

I

learned it at school and found a lot of passages in religious and philosophical books: an angel represents the spirit conveying God's will to man. An angel constitutes a heavenly messenger, who keeps on watching over us and protects us from danger by way of caution or defense. An angel is always ready to accompany us. An angel takes us under his wings... Without knowing it, every one of us has a certain lifeguard all the time. We might call it "accidental": a chance meeting; a pure chance; we make a chance acquaintance or a fluke or a luck goal. We can be persons who have been also involved in a casualty or contingency, so to speak in an accident. But, salamat sa Diyos, we got off with no more than a fright. Our Guardian Angel has been with us? It looks like a miracle, if we still remember the incident being scared to death at that time ... ! The times of anxiety, fear and darkness - everybody knows them for our own experiences. Especially now, it is necessary to have a deep respect for the superior wisdom - an act of God. Try to talk to your Guardian Angel. Yes, you can do it. He

listens at you at any time you call him, because he is willing to listen to you. This means to say: pray and talk with and to someone in our surroundings, who is willing to listen to you. Just open your eyes, you will find him. Such persons will never mention any excuses: they are there for you day and night! Maybe it's your best friend? Yes, everybody has a Guardian Angel: the children around us; people we love very much; even those people who might put us into big trouble and enjoy torturing us with their arrogance, ignorance and unbelievable excuses... . We have many things to do. We are conscious of our duties. We feel sometimes that they crush and overwhelmed us. And suddenly, here he is: the person in our midst helping us carrying some of our heavy loads. Check it out: maybe you are also an appointed Guardian Angel for someone. Are you? Then you really get a great responsibility. Carry it, but enjoy it also. It needs a lot of will power. Let's look inside ourselves. If we know how to dig, we will also understand how to develop an inexhaustible source.

nspired by the vibrant music and fashion scene of the 90’s, Paul Slade started out with a modest line of bespoke t-shirts for family and friends. One of Slade’s top inspirations when he was starting out was American Pop artist, Jeff Koons. After a couple of successful clothing lines, Slade continued to develop his knack for setting trends through fashion by immersing himself in his favorite sources of inspiration – vintage clothing, graffiti, 80’s Hip Hop and Japanese street brands. Eventually, the young designer started to develop a new project, which he called, Paul’s Boutique – a name inspired by an iconic Beastie Boy album. In its early years, Paul’s Boutique created handcustomized army surplus, vintage denims and sweatshirts. Not long after, the brand’s bespoke products caught the eye of local style setters, eventually gaining a cult following. The bold, unapologetic designs of Paul’s Boutique was exactly what young Londoners

were looking for. Paul’s Boutique then became a regular fixture in Portobello Road in 2000 before being snapped up by big retailers like Topshop and Oxford Circus. As the brand continued to grow, international celebrities like Paris Hilton and Justin Timberlake started taking notice of its cheeky designs. In 2009, demand for the brand ballooned immensely, prompting Paul’s Boutique to outsource its manufacturing in order to keep up. As the creative director of the company, Paul continues to churn out designs that have the London girl in mind, mixing in a diversity of styles, music, cultural influences, and attitudes that has made London such an eclectic, exiting source of fashion inspiration for many. As such, customers of the brand can expect fun, wearable pieces with an edge as the Paul’s Boutique girl is described as cool, quirky, confident and with a great sense of fun. Fashion conscious but with her own unique

style, the Paul’s Boutique girl is a true individualist, who enjoys expressing herself through well-made, highlycreative clothing and accessories, never one to blend in the crowd. Currently, Paul’s Boutique continues to attract young style setters from Rita Ora to Pippa Middleton. Now on its 13th year, Paul’s Boutique is firmly established in the international fashion arena. The brand is present across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South Africa. Global expansion continues season on season. In the Philippines, Paul’s Boutique bags are now available in the Primer Group of Companies’ premiere concept stores like Bratpack, The Travel Club and Ladybag. Offering a wide range of totes, small bags, and other ladies’ accessories, each piece is characterized by the brand’s distinct style. From an explosion of colors to an assortment of styles and design techniques, each piece is sure to make a style statement no matter where you go.
