Chinese jailed for ‘mauling’ worker Volume II, No. 052

AN FRANCISCO - Another Chinese national was thrown to jail on Friday for ‘seriously attacking’ his salesboy with a ceramic plate that caused a deep cut on his head during a heated altercation inside the suspect’s rented dry goods store.

The suspect, known as a certain Michael Chan was immediately handcuffed by responding policemen after the family of 20-year old victim Alvin Candor sought police assistance after the fistfight which stemmed only from the victim’s coming a little bit late to work. Chan joined his six other countrymen inside the cramped deteriorated small detention cell at the municpal police station. The other Chinese nationals are still languishing in jail for their alleged involvement in illegal mining along a river in Mati village, near the Mt. Magdiwata watershed. Candor suffered from a laceration in the skull when Chan reportedly smashed his head with a big ceramic plate after asking for his JAILED | page 11

DSWD lauds TESDA over C4TP By Robert E. Roperos

BUTUAN CITY – An official of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Caraga lauded the efforts of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in the conduct of the Cash for Training Program (C4TP), a program partnered by the said agencies. Citing the skills development, knowledge and right attitude acquired by the 408 beneficiaries from Agusan del Norte from the program, DSWD-Caraga Protective Services and Institutional Development Chief Angelita Amista pointed out that with the trainings initiated by TESDA, there is no doubt that majority of the graduates will land job and some will venture into their own livelihood.
