COMMANDER’S JET – Photo shows the F-86 Sabre jet, which was used by Lt. Gen. William K. Hotchkiss III (Ret) while in active service in the Philippine Airforce (PAF). Nicknamed "Banug nan Kantilan", the fighter plane is now on static display at the public plaza of his hometown, Cantilan, Surigao del Sur. Lt. Gen. 2 soldiers KIA in Surigao encounter CAMP RAFAEL RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City Philippine Army soldiers and NPA rebels clashed in Barangay San Isidro, Lianga, Surigao del Sur, June 10, leaving two dead on government side. Both casualties belonged to the 29th Infantry Battalion, PA. The NPA also sustained undetermined number of casualties, the report said. SURIGAO CITY – OIC Regional Executive Director Nonito M. Tamayo of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-13), Thursday, exhorted the fishermen in the rich-fishing town of Siargao, Surigao del Norte to preserve and protect the

marine resources amidst a growing tourism industry in the area. Tamayo made the call following the release into sea of a Pacific green turtle (Chelonia mydas ) at the port of Dapa in Siargao . “I am happy to know that fishermen in this island have improved their level of awareness on marine life

protection, along the boom in tourism owing to surfing and game fish activities in this place,” Tamayo stated The turtle was caught by fisherman’s net over the weekend near the shore of Barangay Union, Dapa town. “I thought of having had a big catch, only to find out it was a sea turtle,” MARINE | page 11
