5.7 quake jolts Davao Oriental, eastern parts of Mindanao

CAGAYAN de Oro City––The increase in the percentage of people with AIDS in Cagayan de Oro City is “very alarming,” according to Councilor Dante Pajo, chair of the city council committee on health. Pajo, however, added that it’s not only in the city but in the country where the incidence of AIDS is alarming. He said some 40 people in Cagayan de Oro have died due to complica- PAJO tions from AIDS. Pajo said most of the people with AIDS here are males and that all of them are tagged as men-havingsex-with-men (MSM). He added that they include young professionals, students and even minors.

DAVAO City––A magnitude 5.7 earthquake with an epicenter in Southeast of Davao Oriental jolted Mati and other areas in Davao Region, Agusan del Sur and Socsksargen yesterday morning. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded the quake occurred at 7:58 in the morning, with a depth of 44 kilometers. Phivolcs recorded the quake, which is tectonic in origin, at intensity 5 in Mati and Davao City; intensity 4 in Digos City; Don Marcelino and Malita, Davao del Sur; and Caraga, Davao Oriental; intensity 3 in Tagum City; Panabo City; Compostela Valley; Matanao, Davao del Sur; Butuan City; Kidapawan City.
