PIA, media now organ donors

UTUAN CITY - Five personnel of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in Caraga Region and 16 local tri-media practitioners here have signified to become organ donors.

This, after the Advocacy on Deceased Organ Donation was conducted here, spearheaded by the Department of Health (DOH), through the National Center for Disease and Prevention and Control (NCDPC), in coordination with the Philippine Organ Donation and Transplantation Program (PODTP), Philippine Network for Organ Sharing

Coop loses P37,612.00 to robbers CAMP RAFAEL RODRIGUEZ, Libertad, Butuan City - Early morning of June 17, this year, the Nasipit People’s Consumers Cooperative (NPCC) at District 4, Barangay Kinabjangan, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte was discovered robbed. NPCC Cashier Lorena Bulado Bongco told police investigators that the door padlocks were destroyed. Carted away by still to be identified robbers were a cash register machine worth P1,000.00; a cellular phone with P1,000.00 load; assorted cigarettes worth P15,000.00; and P18,806.00 cash. The Nasipit police is still conducting follow-up operation of this case, not disregarding the possible involvement of a former employee, who reportedly resigned after a few days of working. LOCAL government units (LGUs) along the Agusan River Basin (ARB) will undergo a Multi-Hazard Maps training next month. To be facilitated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government

(CARAGA-13), the activity is expected to provide the participants with knowledge to understand the uses and application of hazard maps available in their respective localities. It is part of DILG’s commitment of building disaster-resilient LGUs and

communities in the region. As vice-chair of disaster preparedness of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the Department aims to equip readiness among the people, particularly those who reHAZARD | page 11
