4 soldiers hurt in landmine blast Volume II, No. 055

AN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur— Four Army soldiers were seriously hurt in a landmine blast, while on foot patrol along Road 61 near the borders of Bunawan town this province and Bislig City, Surigao del Sur early Wednesday morning.

The Provincial Public Information Office identified the wounded soldiers, as PFC Albert Mabandos, 37, of Cotabato City, who suffered injuries in the neck, belly and shoulder; PFC Jovan Diez, 25, of Padada, Davao del Sur, who was hit by shrapnel in his ear; PFC Elmer Calibroso, 27 of Bukidnon, who was hit in the right arm; and Cpl. Jol Ajimuddenm 52, of Jolo, Sulu, who was hit by shrapnel in the right foot, all of Charlie Company, 75th

Caraga crafts regional peace roadmap By Johny S. Natad

BUTUAN CITY -- In the light of the recent bombing in Cagayan de Oro City, the Caraga Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) is hastening the crafting of a peace road map for the entire region. During the July 30 RPOC meeting, Council Chair and Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr. sounded the need to create the map, if only to secure the alreadyattained development programs in the region. “We must establish peace and security in our region. We hope the progress our region has achieved will not be affected by the recent terrorist attack in Cagayan de Oro and nearby regions,” Amante said.
