CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The New Jian Hua Mining Corp. an accredited trader of Region X on Monday donated school supplies to pupils of the Awang Elementary School in Opol, Misamis Oriental, and P113,000 to the municipal government under Mayor Maximino B. Seno for their scholarship program. Company Executives Vice President led by Brian Ilarde, Kenneth Kho, David Hay and Millie Fung personally delivered the donations to the beneficiaries in time for the first day of school year 2014-2015. SYDNEY -- An outbreak of a deadly new virus among Australian babies is alarming local health authorities, media reported Wednesday. Parechovirus causes fever, irritability, a rash and diarrhea in babies, however, in some young infants, the virus can lead to hepatitis or encephalitis, and can be fatal. Nationally, 46 babies have been confirmed positive with parechovirus infections, the Courier Mail reported on Wednesday. Queensland Children’s Medical Research Institute pediatric infectious diseases director Professor Theo Sloots said the virus affects the brains of young children, and can result in death.
