NPAs kill 5, burn 8 heavy equipment in AguSur CAMP RAFAEL RODRIGUEZ, Libertad, Butuan City – The rubber plantation of Mayor Leonida Manpatilan of Esperanza, Agusan del Sur was attackled by NPA rebels late morning of June 18, this year, leaving two caretakers dead. They also burned a bulldozer parked inside the plantation located at Sitio Camarangan, Barangay Hawilian, same town. Witnesses revealed that caretakers Angel Cosan and Danny Linonsag were hand-tied by the rebels before they were shot to death. Esperanza police said that the NPAs then proceeded to Km 7, Barangay Milagros and ransacked the “Pinagbuklod” Church, capturing former Philippine Army Member Felipe Hadraque, Remy Polintan and Jun Tria. For trying to escape, Tria was shot by the rebels and died before reaching the hospital. The attackers then burned another seven heavy equipment owned by Shanalyn Corporation parked near the church. The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG-13) will train the newly-elected local officials to capacitate them on what they are expected to accomplish in their respective areas. Dubbed, as the NewlyElected Officials (NEO) Program, the activity is specifically aimed to improve the institutional and individual capacities of LGUs to
enhance governance towards the promotion of quality of life of their constituents.
