CAGAYAN de Oro City–– The trial court in Northern Mindanao on Tuesday issued a warrant of arrest against a suspended city mayor in connection with the ambushed slay-attempt of a Congressman in Iligan

City last year.

Suspended City Mayor Celso Regencia, of Iligan City, was not around with the Iligan police served the warrant of arrest Tuesday afternoon. Regencia’s wife received the warrant of arrest. Regencia is facing three counts of murder and four counts of frustrated murder

as a suspect in the ambushed slay try of Cong. Vicente “Barf ” Belmonte of Iligan City lone Congressional district.

Unidentified armed men waylaid Belmonte’s convoy on their way to Iligan City shortly after arriving from Manila at the Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental.

Belmonte, who sustained minor bullet wounds, survived the ambush, but three of his close-in bodyguards died – one of the spot and the two others in the hospital.

The police said that the acceptance of the warrant of arrest by the wife of Regencia already served the

purpose. The charges require no bail. Supporters of Regencia berated the murder charges, saying there was no direct evidence that would link Regencia to Belmonte’s slay attempt.

The Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MTCT of Initao, Misamis Oriental, however, found a probable cause

that could link the Iligan City Mayor to the ambush slay attempt of Belmonte prompting the court to issue the arrest warrant. .

Regencia is currently serving a six month suspension on an administrative charges filed by the political opposition of the City Council in Iligan City.

On the 2nd Day, Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and Zamboanga City 1st District Representative Celso L. Lobregat

will talk about perspectives for Mindanao on the controversial draft Bangsamoro Basic Law. Further, Representative Edgardo R. Masongsong of 1-CARE Partylist and Cagayan De Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. President Cerael Donggay will talk about the energy issues in Mindanao.

The event aims to give first-hand information to the Vice Governors and their respective Provincial Board Members of the existing important issues that affect the island-region and engage them into meaningful action.

FOR two years as Governor of Misamis Oriental, ‘Bambi’ Emano has elevated the status of the province into the “Second Most Competitive Provinces of 2015.”

To earn the rank as the No. 2 competitive provinces among the country’s’ 81 provinces in so short a time is a feat. How would the previous administration react, but be envious? After all, the previous administration ruled the province of Misamis Oriental for nine consecutive years only to accomplish nothing but leave the provincial coffers empty. With almost Php 2 Billion debts, the provincial government of Misamis Oriental was crawling like a wounded Tiger. Armed with the determination, the skeptic Bambi came to the rescue of the ailing Misamis Oriental. Nobody believes that the young Emano could resuscitate the gasping economy of Misamis Oriental in a matter of years.

Nonetheless, after two years, the record would bear out that Gov. Bambi Emano has matured into one of the country’s most astute government managers. Propelling the province of Misamis Oriental into one of the country’s most competitive provinces was

no easy task. First, Bambi has to put the house in order.

He has to clear his backyard of the remnants of misuse and misappropriation of funds.

During his 2nd Taho sa Katawhan (Report to the People) last Monday, Bambi spelled out the accomplishments of his administration since elected Governor in 2013. It was during the occasion that Emano announced the feat attained

by Misamis Oriental after vesting 81 others as the Second Most Competitive Provinces of 2015. By the way, Davao Del Sur bags the first place while Cebu landed third.

The National Competitiveness Council (NCC) extended the annual award during a ceremony held in

the Philippine Convention Center last July 16, 2015 in Manila.

What makes the ranking relevant is the fact that the NCC has spelled out three important criteria for a province or a city to earn the recognition. The criteria are, Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, and Infrastracture.

The NCC is composed of various independent groups and organizations that include anti-corruption groups that scrutinized the local government’s operations and transparency. In other words, the NCC recognizes the efforts of Gov. Emano to revive the ailing economy and the efforts to strengthen the province financial stability.

In terms of infrastructure, the NCC also gives credit to Bambi’s effort to promote the province as a favorite hub for business.

Emano constructed roads and bridges that could effectively provide accessibility to every nook and cranny of Misamis Oriental.

Economic slowdown At a time when everyone seems engrossed with the 2016 presidential elections, reports like the one made by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) that “factory output contracted while exports slid for the third straight month last June due to weak global demand” do not merit the public’s attention anymore even if it has very serious ramifications on the domestic economy.

I don’t want to sound like a prophet of doom here but the need to give reports like this serious thought not just by private and public policy-makers and by the business sector but by the entire citizenry. The implications of this report can’t just be ignored for it touches on every Filipino’s life whether we like it or not.

Any slowdown of the economy such as this one results in unimaginable woes such as termination of employment by those already employed but considered doing redundant work or simply because of the company’s inability to generate the profit it needs to maintain such number of employees. Situations like this likewise results in unemployment because companies would stop hiring new ones.

In this regard, the role of the government is very crucial. It is the government’s duty to ensure that the economic fundamentals it is putting in place are sound and solid to prevent a boom-bust situation in the economy.

But while it is true that during the five-year reign of President Aquino the country experienced unprecedented economic growth rate, the fundamental question is if the posted growth rate were achieved through sustainable means.

DA-UN FAO collaboration to achieve rice sufficiency

These are the focal points of the collaboration of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UN FAO) towards achieving food sufficiency.

To trickle down the concept, the DA and FAO conducted a 1o-day extensive Refresher Training Course on Regional Rice Initiative Phase II at Veranda, Carmen here recently.

Some 57 participants, mostly integrated pest management coordinators from the country’s DA regional

offices and provincial, city and municipal agriculture offices attended the training program.

The training concentrated on innovative and sustainable practices focusing on rice ecosystems, landscapes and value chain incorporated on Save and Grow concept.

Save and Grow set by FAO is a new paradigm of intensive crop production, one that is both highly productive and environmentally sustainable. It centers on eco-friendly farming

practices often combining traditional knowledge with modern technologies that are adapted to the needs of small-scale producers.

It also encourages the use of conservative agriculture which boosts yields while restoring soil health.

The graduates are expected to pass on the learning to the farmers through the conduct of Farmers Field Schools (FFS).

During the graduation ceremony, DA Undersecretary for Policy and Planning Segfredo Serrano emphasized the importance of capacitating the farmers to be resilient to calamities brought by climate change.

“There are only two options for us to do about climate change, to mitigate

or to adapt, which the latter is the best thing to do as far as our country is concerned,” he said.

DA-13 Regional Director Edna Mabeza lauded the participants for their eagerness and willingness to learn.

“Education is a continuing process and I hope that upon returning to you respective regions, you will teach the same to the farmers which is the objective of this kind of training,” Mabeza said.

Program Development Officer Alma Linda Abubakar of the Food and Agriculture Organization for Asia and the Pacific said since 2013, FAO has supported the Regional Rice Initiative and assisted three pilot

countries such as Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the Philippines.

“Selection of the pilot areas was based on the commitment of each country to adhere to its purpose and strong cooperation,” Abubakar said.

Regional Rice Initiative is focusing on goods and services produced by and available from rice ecosystems and landscapes, and

DTI releases new suggested retail prices SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte - The Consumer Protection and Advocacy Bureau (CPAB) under the Consumer Protection Group of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) released the suggested retail prices (SRP) of basic necessities and prime commodities as of July 23, 2015.

The said release succeeded the April 16, 2015 SRP, except for the four products that have decreased in prices over the April 16, 2015 SRP, mostly prices of the listed

basic necessities and prime commodities are the same in the latest SRP. Among those that have reduced prices are Family Budget Pack Plain Canned Sardines, 130g from P12.60 to P12.00, Lucky 7 Canned Sardines, 155g from P13.75 to P13.45 and Quick Chow Instant Noodles (Mindanao), 55g – P6.70 to P6.60.

Law and order, business-friendly environment, jobs and justice will be hallmarks of a Duterte presidency

rom being dubbed as the “wild, wild south” of the Philippines decades ago, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday bared his principles and deeply-held beliefs which served as his guide in converting Davao City as among the Top Ten Most Livable in the World.

During the General Membership Meeting of the Bankers Institute of the Philippines held at the Dusit Hotel, Makati City, Duterte enumerated his “Articles of Faith.”

“Let me tell you what I believe in, what I stand for,” Duterte said in a speech read for him by his political adviser Lito Banayo. “A leader (1) Must maintain law and order, (2) Must always listen to the people he leads; and (3) Must uplift the lives of the marginalized by operating with utter bias for the poor.”

Duterte explained the importance of these three principles but emphasized that Davao City could not have achieved the progress it attained were it not for the cooperation of its residents. “Let me tell you that this happened not because I was at the helm of the city, rather, because of the collective sense of purpose

and cooperation of all the people of Davao.”

He added that the effort of transitioning from a violent and lawless past to an orderly and peaceful present was not easy. “It meant imposing upon ourselves, and teaching our children, the values of discipline, pride of place, and unity towards a common good and the right direction.”

When he first won as Davao City Mayor in 1988, Duterte said that one of the first things he did was meet with the group of businessmen from Southeastern Mindanao and made a covenant with them. According to their agreement, Duterte will take care of the peace and order as well as provide for the basic services, while the business group will take care of the business sector and invite more investors into the city.

Duterte added that applications for business per-

mits are approved within 72 hours, since there are no bribes or under-the-table deals. “The mayor asks for nothing in return, be it a condominium unit or bags of cash. Because the mayor is not on the take, nobody else in the city government dares,” he pointed out.

“From the poor we have learned that giving them and their children the opportunity to advance in life, by ensuring access to better education and health services, and protecting them from criminals and the abusive, is the best way to maintain their loyalty and their faithful compliance with the law,” the mayor said.

Duterte has also listed his priorities if he becomes the next president of the Republic.

On the law and order issue, Duterte will focus on the following important matters: “Ensure that criminals are afraid of the law; Repeal laws now used by criminal themselves to avert punishment like the Juvenile Delinquency Law; Re-impose death penalty for heinous crimes; Ensure children of OFWs are safe while their parents are

abroad earning a living; Swift and fair justice for all.”

On the business side, Duterte said he will push for easier business registration, so that more jobs will be created and poverty eliminated. He added that airport should be renovated and trains must not only be on time but must, more importantly, be safe.

Duterte lamented that these improvements should have all been done decades ago but refrained from pointing fingers as to who should be blamed. “You are business executives. You cannot go to your board of directors each time and say you did not meet your targets because of the mess you inherited when you assumed your positions. You should know what you are getting into. If you can’t hack it, be honest… don’t seek the office,” he said.

The Presidential hopeful from Mindanao also mentioned that overspending is not the solution to economic recovery. “It is a matter of spending right --- in the right priorities, and with a right sense of urgency.”

He added that if the whole of Mindanao were

only peaceful, its fertile plains and plentiful sources of water can feed the whole of Luzon and Mindanao, and lamented the fact that that a country surrounded by seas could have fish which are unaffordable to the poorest of the poor.

With respect to uplifting the lives of the marginalized, Duterte said that government, in tandem with the private sector should help each other to keep the prices of food stable. “Food security must be a major priority. We make our farms more productive and give farmers higher incomes.

We not only ensure food availability; we also temper food inflation. But over and above these, we are able to address countryside poverty.”

“A peaceful Mindanao which is almost typhoonfree, with its fertile plains, and still abundant water sources, if adequately developed, can feed Luzon and the Visayas… Pero pinabayaan kami ng Metro-Manila; land of promise, hanggang promise na lang,” Duterte said in jest.

Summer Reading Camp 2015

Pinilayan Elementary School joins the Summer Reading Camp 2015 from April 2015 – May 11, 2015.

The teachers were obliged to report in school according to their respective scheduled. Two teachers were assigned per day except during opening and culminating day. Children from Pre-school to Grade 111 were handled by one teacher also with children from Grade 1V-V1. They prepared different activities for the whole duration of the program as reflected in matrix.

The said activities enhances children’s interest in reading and maximize their potentials of becoming an instructional reader.

Summer Reading Camp was collaborate participated by the school children, parents and teachers. It was started by a parade and short program and ended with a memorable

activity. The School children had so much fun and enthusiasm with the varied activities prepared by assigned teacher. Children show interest in all activities. They give their full support and attention in their task. They followed Carefully instruction, and open-minded with some criticism. They learned new things and lots of new friends, this activities encouraged children to explore their knowledge.

Summer Reading Camp offers a big opportunity to children to experience a lot of fun and interesting ideas and activities in the school. It was a priceless event happen during summer. We teachers hope that next Summer Reading Camp there will be more children to join. Parents should be educated and encouraged to their children to school reading camp had a lots of fun.

HOW TO ENJOY HARD WORK

Everyone should eat, drink and find enjoyment for all his work. It is the gift of God. (Ecclesiastes 3:13). Consider the following Bible-based advice for finding satisfaction in your work.

1. Cultivate a positive View of Work Whether your work is mostly mental, mostly physical or somewhere in between, recognize that “there is benefit in every kind of hard work”.

(Proverb 14:23). Hard work helps us to care for our materials needs. God promise to provide for the needs of those who sincerely worship Him. (Matthew 6:31-32) God expects us to do our part by diligently trying to earn on honest living (Thessalonians 3:10).

2. Apply yourself to your work A person can learn to enjoy almost any kind of work if he approaches it with the right mind –set that is, if he focuses on learning how to do things well.

3. Focus on your work benefits others Jesus said:” There is more happiness in giving than in receiving”. (Acts 20:35)There are people

who benefit from our hard work, these are our household and those in need. Indeed, we work hard to provide ourselves and our family the physical necessities of life food, clothing and shelter. We may also help those who are less fortunate. So hard word can enable us to experience the greater happiness if giving.

4. Go the extra mile Set personal goals; challenge yourself to do your work better or faster than expected. Take pride in even small details of your work. You are work hard because you want to, not because someone forced you to do. The person who goes the extra mile- doing more because he chooses to-feel in control of his life. He remains master over his action.

5. Keep work in its proper place The Bible can help us cultivate or balanced view of work. The more important things include our spending time with good rapport with our own clients but at the end of the day when job is done, leave your work behind and focus to your family and have time to worship God.

NATIONAL DEWORMING DAY

The Department of Education endeavors to help the children become physically fit and healthy and in partnership of the Department of health that is why we have the national deworming day as one of the initiatives.

The Pinilayan Central Elementary School eagerly participated the National Deworming Day last July 29, 2015. The class advisers gave the deworming permit to parents one week before the date of deworming. Among the 225 pupils only 1 pupil

was not dewormed because the child had a fever. The total number of dewormed children was only 244 of which 153 are 4P’s recipient and 71 are non- 4Ps. The aforesaid activity was opened by a short program at 8:00 in the morning, we have visitors from the Barangay Health Office headed by our Brgy. Health Midwife Leonila L. Navales and her two barangay health workers Mrs. Antonette N. Tingson, Mrs Erlinda B. Alipio and companions. Madam Leonila L. Navales gave her short message stressing the

importance of deworming and its effect on pupil’s health. There was a simultaneous hand washing activity in the school playground at 9:00 in the morning from kindergarten up to Grade V1 pupils.

Next was the feeding activity held in their respective classroom. Parents in every grade level prepared the yummy delicious benignit and were greatly enjoyed by the school children. Then tooth brushing followed from kindergarten up to Grade V1. Deworming activity at 10:00 in the morning with full support of our parents, and teachers with pupil’s cooperation. De-

worming was monitored by our active, energetic School District Supervisor Lydia B. Juban together with our blooming and active District Nurse Romuelia M. Monderondo and company with the local School Board Transportation.

In the afternoon there was alarming news that happen in Iligan City that many of the dewormed children were brought to hospital, so some parents panic come to school and monitored their children but thanks to Almighty God the deworming activity in Pinilayan Central Elementary School ended successfully at 10:15 in the morning.

ANE-I, Claveria, Misamis Oriental––Idle hands and idle lands are getting lesser and lesser as more and more people are joining the rush and cash in on tobacco farming in this municipality considered the food basket of Misamis Oriental.

Thanks to the continuous tobacco production operation of the Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Corp. (PMFTC), the unemployment rates in the two barangays of Ane-i and Tamboboan have drasti-

cally gone down in barely eight months of commercial operation.

“Iba na ang aming barangay ngayon. Maraming mga tao ang nakatrabaho.

Wala ng mga istambays sa aming barangay ngayon kasi nagtatrabaho na sila bilang labor ng farmers ng tabako (Our barangay is very different now. Many people have found work.

There is barely any unemployed here because people have found work as hired laborers of tobacco farmers),” attested Nelly Casiño, barangay chairperson of Ane-i.

Ane-i has a population of more or less 3,000. The unemployed was pegged at 50% before 2012, the year PMFTC established an experimental farm in Claveria.

DAVAO City––A durian grower in Davao City is planning to expand his global reach to Japan within the year after making it to the Singapore and Hong Kong markets.

Speaking in Monday’s Kapehan sa Dabaw, Larry Miculob, president of the city’s Durian Council, said he will send within the week 50 samples of seedless and vacuum-packed fresh durian to Japan.

He added the potential Japanese market would like to make durian as a base ingredient for smoothies.

If push comes to shove, he said, he will tap other growers to supply the Japanese market.

He said the growers in the city have previously started to export 30 tons of whole durian to Singapore since two years ago and 18 tons last year to Hong Kong.

He lauded the passage of Republic Act 10667, or the Philippine Competition Act, and RA 10668, or the Foreign Co-Loading Act, which amended the 50-year old Cabotage Law. RA 10667 provides “for a national competition policy prohibiting anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominant position and anticompetitive mergers and acquisitions.”

DepEd Advocates School-Based Immunization Program

The department of education (DepEd) supports the School-Based Immunization Program of the Department of Health (DOH) as the government’s response to ensure prevention of morbidity and morbidity and mortality of school age children due to vaccine-prevention diseases.

The vaccination shall prioritize ALL grade one and grade seven students in all public elementary and secondary schools nationwide.

The pupils and students will receive Measles Rubella (MR) and tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine.

This program will provide booster doses of routine vaccines to older children and it shall be FREE to be administered by the Department of Health representatives with

the cooperation of teachers.

Only students with parental/ guardian consent shall be vaccinated, in case of zero or 1 dose or vaccination refusal, or no immunization card presented, the students shall not be suspended, grounded, nor reprimanded as reflected in the DepEd Memo No. 0238,s 2015.

The teacher should identify what are the vaccines that his/her student received for the past years. Screened Measles Vaccination history at the same time of the school entry and vaccinated if evidences show either zero or only 1 dose to ensure that these students received at least 2 MCC by school entry.

If student with recorded 2 doses of MCV, student should not be vaccinated.

Our perspective on money and possessions and how we handle themlies at the very heart of the Christian life. The Bible emphatically demonstrates that how we view our money and possessions is of utmost importance.

What we do with them will influence eternity. “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.

And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?”(Luke 16:10-11).

Jesus suggests that all of us continually tested in our money management.

Are we faithful in how we handle money?

Two practical steps can greatly help us get a grip on our spending: recording expenditures and making a budget. They will foster a healthy dialogue about what we do with our money and help us develop careful spending habits. God

tells us he will hold us accountable for our money management- so we should hold ourselves accountable and enlist others to help us the same. They will improve our mental and marital health.

Everything learned in life, from coping methods to table manners, is learned in families. As parents, we should teach our children to associate money with labor. Money and possessions do not fill out the sky; they are earned through diligence and effort. Teach children the value of money and discipline of self-control through saving. Learn the difference between needs and wants, how to save, and how to invest and teach them to share. Encourage your children to share what they have with others as well as regularly to set something aside to honor God. Help our children become generous givers not keepers. God loves a cheerful giver, and he loves a faithful and wise steward.

in terms of the wants and needs of both the employee and the organization and the ways of the evolving nature of that relationship will be integral to the success of the enterprise. The key issues, as we see them, relate to the themes of leadership, relationship- building and collaboration-because it is through attaining mastery in these areas that organizations and their leaders in the next century will survive

and flourish.

We should note that our consideration of the issues of management education and development is based primarily on the situation in professional service firms.

Our experiences have been most intensely in professional services (such as management consulting, accounting, taxes, audit, law, executive search, advertising and public relations).

And the professionalservices environment is an excellent laboratory of considering the benefits of

management education, given that the business of these firms is essentially management itself. Client service through focused, developmental assignments is, in effect the raison d’etre of many professional services firms.

A MODEST INITIATIVE OF A TEACHER

Don E. Sero Elementary School is just an ordinary school of more than 800 pupils. It may better than many rural school in the country.

It has teaching strength of 23 and situated in the hilly part of Barangay Rosary Heights 5, Don E. Sero, Cotabato City, so that when flooding season comes, Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) were temporarily sheltered thereon. Like other schools, scarcity of school building is among its problem, feeding centre and office canteen is always an issue. In fact, extra activities were being done under the trees surrounding the school.

I, as canteen in charge and a school feeding Coordinator began to realize where to feed my beneficiaries, all malnourished or the so

called severely wasted children. Instead of scratching my already whitening hair (maybe caused by over shampooing or aging process), I called up a special meeting with the parents of the feeding beneficiaries and we came up with a unanimous decision to start erecting a new façade still under the mango tree. Through the approval and support of the School Principal Mr. Moksin Kamir, The feeding centre begun to surface. Following Mr. Kamir’s retirement, the aggressive District Supervisor Ma’am Nida Padrique assumed as concurrent principal. She imparted her being aggressiveness to me, thereby empowering the latter to the fullest making,then the feeding process became successful

and the façade became a full blown mini feeding center with a mini fence, water faucet, lavatory, a kitchen and paraphernalia. The best of it was at the onset of the initiative, it was a self help move, division of labour became the menu of the day, but later on, of course the school MOOE made the rest of it through the kind consideration of the concurrent principal.

Sometimes ago, I also offered my home and our playground to the School pupils and teachers to do their classroom chores when the school at that time was filled with evacuees caused by flood.

Foreseen are more challenges to come under the new administration. The energetic Ma’am Aida T.

Dimen surprisingly is being observed as caring and very motherly, although some are older than her.

The school playground is beautified and became very colorful, bearing reminders and challenges filled with wisdom as every comers read the lavishly illustrated tarpaulin. It is also foreseen a better tomorrow for Don E. Sero Elementary School physically and academically as the clock rotates on for Ma’am Dimen leadership style.

Thus, in every good work, we gain fruitful result. My secret to success is constancy to my purpose.

It taught me a lot that led me to write again in Businessweek and share to the readers my reflections on various issues. That defense may hold some water. But from the perspective of sound economic policies, the current reliance on industries other than agriculture-based is suspect. Take for example the inflow of hot money into the domestic economy because of the not so favorable condition in traditional investment havens such as the United States.

When the US economy showed some revving up, foreign capital that was brought here were easily brought out of the country and placed in the traditional investment havens that have shown recovery from previous contractions.

Unless our economic czars will come to their senses and admit the sad truth that without developing agriculture we can’t hope to develop the economy through industrialization, any growth in the domestic economy will simply just be a boom-bust cycle. This is very similar to what had

We were then experiencing economic growth rate that likewise became the envy of our neighbors.

But look what happened toward the end of his term.

The Ramos administration’s much ballyhooed leapfrogging into becoming a tiger economy was exposed as bankrupt.

The collapse was blamed on the Asian currency crisis.

It may have some truth. But what can’t be denied was the fact that our economy was standing not on a solid rock but simply on a sinking sand.

Why? Because we have not developed our agriculture as a condition sine qua non to industrialization.

In our desire to become a tiger economy, we forgot that the tiger has to be given birth first. That birth is the development of agriculture so that factories will have the much-needed raw materials to churn out into finished products. The other problem hounding our economy is our slavery to the dictates of foreign powers through giant international institutions.

Our subservience to the policies of these giant financial institutions left us with a semblance of manufacturing activities even if these are not locally owned. But our main role is confined to producing skilled workers and managerial executives for export. This economic thrust is the culprit why we have about 10 million compatriots working in different parts of the world.

Given that number who are earning dollars faithfully remitted to the domestic economy to prop it up and prevent its collapse, valuewise we have been slowly but surely made to embrace the ideology of materialism through unabated consumerism hence the sprouting of giant retail malls propagating nothing but such evil called materialism.

Truth is, this is the economic cycle that makes the Philippine economy go round. Is this sound?

Certainly not! This is one economic cycle that looks at money as something that should be spent the moment it touches the palm of any person for fear that money will go out of fashion a few hours later.

Look at the kind of life families of OFWs have.

that “When a child perceives abandonment, shame pierces the heart.” These children think, “If Dad really loved me, he would spend time with me, love me, talk to me, nurture me. He wouldn’t be away so much. Since he doesn’t do these things, there must be something severely defective about me. I am a mistake. I am a shame.”

In many ways, I agree to this observation. Experience tells me that my significance was developed because I grew

up with a father who was there in every highs and lows of my life. Although he excelled in his work as chief technician in the former DXOR/DXRK for about 40 years, his focus was to provide for his family and send children to schools that offered quality education. My favorite memory is when he used to wake up at 2 o’clock in the morning just to accompany me every time I studied at dawn.

Now, I have witnessed the same nurturance my husband

gives to my two daughters (Danielle, 14 years old and Elisha, 11 years old). Although they are still in their teenage years, I can feel their confidence and witness the development of their healthy self-concept.

Indeed, I have a lot to be thankful for not only to my father and my husband but also to all fathers who take their role seriously to mold children with healthy self-esteem. My prayers are with you and God bless!

Generally speaking they are failures to what they dreamed of achieving while working abroad. But is the government about to change this picture by adopting another economic model?

I don’t think so. And that is the sad part.

One of the significant accomplishments of the Emano administration is reviving the bankrupt provincial economy through improved revenue collection. With an increase in revenue collection, Emano was able to pay the debts that he inherited from the previous administration.

In fact, Emano could say nothing but thanked the people of Misamis Oriental for the support extended to his administration. Today, Emano could aptly describe Misamis Oriental’s accomplishment as “stupendous.”

PSA INTERVIEWS MORENO FOR POPCEN 2015 Interim Provincial Statistics Officer of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Dr. Janith Cabalang-Aves interviews Mayor Oscar Moreno during the start of the enumeration for the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015) last August 10, 2015.

Questions about socioeconomic and demographic characteristics such as age, sex, marital status, school attendance, literacy, educational attainment and usual activity/ occupation were asked.

Mayor Moreno actively participated in during the interview and provided the information needed in the questionnaire.

The POPCEN 2015 is a nationwide activity aims to provide updated population counts of household members, which shall be used for the determination of the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA); creation of new local government units (LGUs); and, for the conversion of some existing LGUs to higher level such as municipalities into component cities and component cities to highly urbanized cities.

Census results are also useful for determining sites for establishing businesses. These data are utilized to determine consumer demands and supply of labor for the production of various goods and services.

Lolita Milano said that since she started tobacco farming in 2013, she has helped provide jobs to at least 20 of her neighbors.
