ANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur - The provincial government of Surigao del Sur is all set for the 53rd Araw ng Surigao del Sur along the theme “Padayon Paglambo, Surigao del Sur” (Continue Growing, Surigao del Sur). Provincial Administrator Efren Rivas said the celebration will formally kick-off today, June 17, with a thanksgiving mass and opening parade of local officials, public and private employees, students and representatives from various sectors. Cynthia Villar to pour livelihood projects in M’nao By Christine H. Cabiasa

CAGAYAN DE ORO- Senator-elect Cynthia Villar has vowed to pour different livelihood projects in Mindanao, specifically the plastic recycling project in which it would generate jobs for the people in the region. “The plastic recycling project will be beneficial, since raw materials are already there, operate it, improve the product, and out of those plastics, we can make chairs and others,” Sen. Villar said. “Kung ano ang mga ginawa ko sa Las Piñas, gagawin ko rin sa Mindanao”. As an advocate for pro-

ducing livelihood projects, as she believes it will improve the lives of every Filipino, Sen. Villar will chair the agriculture and fisheries committee. “Gusto ko kasing ipagpatuloy ang mga gawa ni Sen. Manny Villar at naniniwala rin akong ito ang makakapagbigay ng hanapbuhay sa mga tao, kahit simpleng

hanapbuhay lang,” she added. Also, Sen. Villar said she will focus on small, medium, and micro enterprises especially on the agriculture sector as it will boost the economy and will empower small businesses alike. “Since we are labor intensive, we will conduct business trainings for agriculture and fisheries also,” she added. Matin-ao school kids given new school supplies CAMP RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Libertad, Butuan City - Kids of Matinao Elementary School in Barangay Bonbon, this city, received school supplies from PRO 13 and Golden Tara Square and Compasses Club (GTSC) of Butuan City, June 13. Notebooks, pencils, ballpens and other writing materials and supplies were given by members of BCPO, headed by Police Sr. Supt. Nerio T Bermudo; and PRO 13 Headquarters, headed by P/Supt. Martin M Gamba; and GTSC. Smiles were seen from the faces of little children,

while receiving the supplies. Most of them did not have notebooks and other needed materials yet, since start of classes. Bermudo said the kids needed such assistance for them to learn more in school even as he thanked GTSC for providing the supplies. Teachers, headed by Head Teacher Irene J.
