‘Sekyu’ ordinance A CAGAYAN de Oro city councilor here is pressing for the approval of the proposed ‘security guard ordinance” that would compel establishments to hire private security guards as a deterrent to the commission of crimes. City Councilor Ramon Tabor, chair of the city council’s committee on police, fire, and public safety, said that the “security guard ordinance” is necessary to address the growing number of robbery cases in this trading hub of Northern Mindanao. “The other urban centers in the country have now implemented an approved ordinance that requires the services of private security guards to secure establishments”, Tabor said. Tabor cited the case in Cebu City, where the City Mayor ordered the closure of a courier firm after he noticed during an inspection that the firm failed to engage the services of private security guards during office hours.
