Briefly Power contract denied THE Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) dismissed 11 applications power supply agreements found to be legally defective. These 11 applicants are BILECO and GNPD; LUELCO and GNPD; COTELCO and WMPC; CASURECO IV and ULGEI; CEBECO I and MPGC; DANECO and SMCPC; SIARELCO and SMCPC; CEBECO II and MPGC; MORESCO I and SMCPC; ZAMSURECO I and SMCPC; and NUVELCO and SMEC have all failed to meet the requirements for the certification of Non-Forum Shopping. In connection with the ERC rules, applications for approval must be accompanied by verification. The aforementioned applicants all failed to comply, ERC said.

HE Department of Energy is asking Mindanao Grid systems operator National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to explain why it is apparently forcing Mindanaoans to buy more expensive electricity by not making available the much cheaper power from the island’s hydroelectric power plants.
This arose after DOE Undersecretary Benito L. Ranque paid a spot visit to the Pulangui IV hydroelectric plant in Maramag, Bukidnon last week. “I found out that the entire output of this plant has been set aside as ancillary reserve by the grid operator,” ngcp/PAGE 7
