Investment center DAVAO City – The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) launched its first business and investment center in Davao City, to provide easy access to its investors and serve as 24/7 information hub. The PEZA Business and Investment Center is located at the Damosa I.T Park, the 1st PEZA-accredited I.T. Park in Southern Mindanao at the Damosa District. PEZA Business and Investment Center’s first order of operation will be to assist its members and future investors in processing permits (both import and export), provide detailed services, such as document processing, and connecting them to other PEZA offices. PEZA’s direction is geared towards promoting their mission of investment promotion, employment creation and export generation, making it a “One Stop Shop” branch in Mindanao. Part of PEZA’s long term plans will be to develop the center by designating engineers, accreditors, examiners and an official from the Bureau of Customs, to guide locators throughout the entire process. With the Davao branch, transactions can now be made easy for economic zones in Davao, aiding them in the preassessment process interlinking with the Regional PEZA office for VisMin (Visayas and Mindanao) in Mactan, Cebu.

Mindanao bikers run for peace By GERRY LEE GORIT, Reporter
ONE of the biggest biking events in Mindanao was launched Saturday as more than 400 bikers converged in this city on Saturday to express their support for troops who are battling the Islamic State-inspired Maute Group in Marawi. The bikers belong to various groups but they are all members of the Mindanao Confederation of Big Bike Clubs (MCBBC), and their purpose is one: to boost the morale of the soldiers who are engaging in urban warfare in the streets of Marawi. The Cagayan de Oro event was
called the “Breakfast Ride” and was the continuation of the same activity held last August in Baguio City which was attended by the more than a thousand motorbike enthusiasts from across the country. Each biker who joined the ride-for-a-cause paid P600 for the registration. Almost 2,000 riders had registered for the event. Major General Ronnie Evangelista, chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Civil Relations Services, said the ride was also aimed to raise the awareness of the bikers/PAGE 11
