Briefly ‘Metro Cagayan’ THE City government of Cagayan de Oro is adopting a bigger picture approach in order to strengthen the city’s strategic role in the development of Northern Mindanao region, according to City Mayor Oscar S. Moreno in his first 100 days report. “The current administration intends to collaborate closely with other provinces and cities to bring about economic growth and sustainable development in the region,” said Mayor Moreno. To achieve strong collaboration and partnership among neighboring cities and provinces along developmental efforts, the City Chief Executive vowed his administration’s active involvement and participation in the Regional Development Council and the Regional Peace and Order Council so as to boost the city’s leadership position in the region.

Substandard products ILIGAN City -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) of Iligan conducted a disposal activity of substandard/ uncertified electrical, building and construction materials, electrical appliances and selected consumer products like Christmas lights and lighters, after the city flag raising ceremony.. These products are believed to be one of the major causes of fires in the country, said Ruel B. Paclipan, provincial director, DTI Iligan City/Lanao del Norte. The city government officials and employees led by Mayor Celso G. Regencia witnessed the crushing of those disposed products with the use of the road roller. These products were apprehended from nine establishments- six from Iligan City and three from Lanao del Norte, during a joint LPCC and Bureau of Fire monitoring on November and December last year.
