Holcim expansion DAVAO City – Executives of the cement firm Holcim Philippines with representatives from the city government and other line government agencies held the ground-breaking ceremony of the Kalayaan Project on October 27, 2017. The Kalayaan Project is an added facility that can provide more than four million bags of cement per day to support the Build, Build, Build projects in Mindanao. Xavier Kennedy, Manager of the Holcim Philippines Davao Plant said the Kalayaan Project is a two prongedfacility for mechanized shipunloading and increasing the grinding capability. He said that as the city grows and the demand for cement increases, Holcim Philippines keeps pace by adding its capacity. “At this moment, we can dispatch close to four million bags of cement at its current capacity. We are going to add more to this capacity through this project,” Kennedy said.

AVAO City – Business leaders in Mindanao are all praises after President Rodrigo R. Duterte announced he brought home some billions worth of Japanese assistance and investments from his two-day working visit in Japan but they are hoping he would a give a bigger chunk to his hometown, Davao City, and Mindanao.

that he acknowledged the enormous contribution of Japan to development of the country as a strong trading

partner but he claimed most of the investments and development assistance in the past went to Manila and Cebu. “It is sad to note that most of these investments are in Manila and Cebu. We hope that the President will be able to direct more of these investments to Davao and Mindanao,” he said. COWD cannot grant bulk water price hike due to legal issues

Bangon Marawi PRESIDENT Rodrigo Roa Duterte reorganized the composition of Task Force Bangon Marawi. The President signed Administrative Order No. 9 last October 27 ordering the change in the structure of the Task Force as he saw the necessity of a full-blown reconstruction, following Marawi City’s liberation from the control of ISIS-backed terrorist groups. Task Force Bangon Marawi is now headed by the Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), with the Secretary of Department of National Defense (DND), the former Task Force chairman, and the Secretary of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as Co-Vice Chairpersons.
