Top tax payer FOR the second time, Filinvest’s power arm, FDC Misamis Power Corporation (FDC Misamis), was hailed and honored by the province of Misamis Oriental as its number one real property taxpayer for the third quarter of calendar year 2019, in an awarding ceremony held at the Capitol Grounds in Cagayan de Oro City on Monday. The Gotianun-led power firm registered a total payment of P59,122,735.22 in the first three quarters of the current year, records from the Provincial Treasurer’s Office show. Last year, it also ranked number one with P60,698,039.72 in total payment.

Red tide BUTUAN City -- A red tide warning was issued on Tuesday by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR-13) in Lianga, Surigao del Sur. BFAR-13 said water samples taken from Lianga Bay turned up positive for paralytic shellfish poison. Shellfish samples were already sent to the BFAR National Fisheries Laboratory Division (NFLD) for a confirmatory test but BFAR-13 already issued the warning as precautionary advice to safeguard human lives in the area.
