Licensing scam BUTUAN City– The Land Transportation Office in Caraga Region (LTO-13) has warned residents in the area about an emerging scam that entices people to register and obtain drivers’ licenses through online transactions. LTO-13 Director Nordy Plaza told Philippine News Agency Friday that he has already directed LTO district offices in the region to help disseminate the information to warn residents of this modus. “I am warning the public on this Facebook Page named Land Transportation Online Assistant. This is a scam and is being run by unscrupulous people, which our office does not condone,” Plaza said.

UTUAN City -- The Philippine Statistics Authority in Caraga Region (PSA-13) said the area registered a 5 percent economic growth in 2019.

Caregivers bill THE House of Representatives on Monday overwhelmingly approved on third and final reading a bill seeking to institute policies for the protection and welfare of caregivers in the practice of their profession. Voting 221-0, the chamber approved on final reading House Bill 135 or the proposed Caregivers Welfare Act. Bataan Rep. Geraldine Roman, one of the authors of the bill, said policies must be enacted to protect the welfare and well-being of caregivers, as well as to maintain excellent and globally competitive standards for the caregiver professional service.

The agency said Caraga’s growth performance last year moved at a slightly “slower pace” compared to 2018 when the region registered a 5.2 percent growth. declined with a growth rate of -3.6 percent,” the PSA-13 said. The agency also announced high performances of three sub-industries that contributed to the region's overall growth rate last year. The region's financial and insurance activities posted a 23 percent high growth last year, alongside the public administration and defense with 14.2 percent, and the compulsory activities with 13.4 percent. The three sub-industries, the PSA-13 added, fall under the services sector in the GROWTH/PAGE 7
