DOE pushes for developed countries to subsidize FIT T

HE Department of Energy ( D OE ) i s p u s h i n g for de veloped countries to subsidize the next round of the feedin-tariff (FIT), a subsidy granted to emerging renewable technologies at a certain rate. ”The developed country should take the burden of investing and developing, because we are a developing and poor country. It’s very difficult for us to shoulder that especially our people,” DOE Secretary Alfonso Cusi told reporters in an interview.
THE CAGAYAN dE Oro City Council committee on finance, budget and appropriations in Cagayan de Oro during its meeting took up, among others, the City Local Poverty Reduction Action Plan with the list of priority projects within the Grassroots Budgeting Menu of Programs for 2017. This was referred by the committee on agriculture and fisheries chaired by Councilor Annie Daba to the committee for further study as per Motion No. 22683-2016 to defer action on proposed Resolution No. 2016-58 “approving and/or adopting the City Local Poverty Reduction Action Plan with the list of priority projects within grassroots budgeting menu of programs for FY 2017” duly adopted on September 13, 2016.
He noted requiring coal plants to p ay for t h e F I T wou l d b e difficult. It is currently charged through a separate line-item in power bills. The secretary further said solar panels also cause pollution when they are produced, as it uses a lot of heat and chemicals. Cusi has echoed the remarks of President Rodrigo Duterte, who earlier said that developed economies should subsidize the FIT as they had already reached their industrialization peak.

City’s exec budget DELIBERATIONS on Cagayan de Oro city’s projected P5 billion budget for 2017 will commence soon. The City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy is constituting the City Council as a Committee of the Whole to deliberate on the city’s Executive Budget (General Fund and Special Account-Economic Enterprises/ Utilities) for calendar year 2017 in the amounts of P4,621,842,141 and P378,157,859, respectively. In his budget message, Mayor Oscar Moreno said the city government aims to provide affordable but quality social services, sustainable job generation and employment opportunities, capability building geared towards the development of micro and small enterprises.

SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur— The local electric cooperative in the province is pushing for a P355 million three-year capital expenditure (Capex) to improve its services that will cope up with the demands of an efficient infrastructure program. The multi-million peso Capex that covers 2017 up to 2019 was submitted to the Energy Regulatory Commission
