Briefly Caraga’s 4.3% growth BUTUAN City -- Recent results of the Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) survey revealed that Caraga’s economy grew by 4.3 percent in 2017 higher than the 2.0 percent growth recorded in 2016. PSA Caraga regional director Dr. Rosalinda Apura revealed that the services sector has contributed the largest share of the region’s economic growth in 2017. “Services remained to account for the largest share in the region’s economy with 49.7 percent,” said Dr. Apura. Services continued to expand in 2017 with 7.2 percent growth and Other Services also contributed the most to growth as it grew by 10.9 percent, she added.
Wage hike GENERAL Santos City -- The newly-approved P16 to18 wage increase for private workers in Region 12 or Soccsksargen will take effect starting May 11. Sisinio Cano, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Region 12 director, said Wednesday the new daily wage rates in the region set under Wage Order No. RB XII-20 is deemed effective after its 15-day publication period. He said they first published the wage order on April 26, two days after getting final approval from the National Wages and Productivity Commission.
