Briefly P4.2B Normin projects IMPLEMENTATION of P4.2 billion infrastructure projects in Northern Mindanao is a welcome development as these will help protect Cagayan de Oro city and the constituents from flood and other calamities. Vice mayor Caesar Ian E. Acenas noted reports that 79 projects were implemented including the flood wall in Barangays Carmen, Kauswagan and Balulang in Cagayan de Oro City amounting to P753 million. According to published reports, the projects were approved following the typhoon Sendong tragedy. The Office of Civil Defense in Region 10 (OCD10) reportedly facilitated the priority projects after conducting the Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) with the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC).

Night market THE Davao City government is eyeing to expand its night market in different places across the metropolis. Yusop Jimlani, head of the City’s Drainage and Demolition Unit (DMDU) said that night markets are being planned in Toril, Agdao, Ilustre Extension and Sta. Ana Avenue. Jimlani said probable sites would be in Toril and Agdao since these places are already crowded with vendors. The night market in Toril would be located near the market and Agdao would be in Lapu-Lapu Street. He added that the plan would have to wait as Jimlani said he will be retiring this June, the new head would be given the plan to implement the nigh markets.
