Normin growth THE economy of Northern Mindanao posted a 5.9 percent growth in 2017, lower as compared with the 7.5 percent growth recorded in 2016. According to Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Director Ronaldo Taghap during its news conference in Cagayan de Oro City, among the major economic sectors, services showed the fastest growth at 6.6 percent, lower than the previous year’s growth of 8.3 percent. Industry decelerated to 5.9 percent compared with the 9.8 percent growth in 2016.
Livestock center MARAMAG, Bukidnon -Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine students of state-owned Central Mindanao University (CMU) in Bukidnon will have a modern research and training facility soon after Pilmico’s groundbreaking rites early this week to start the construction of the facility within the university’s lush fields. Pilmico Foods Corporation, the food subsidiary of Aboitiz Equity Ventures, in partnership with Aboitiz Foundation Inc., will build a state-of-the-art research and development (R&D) complex to be named as Livestock Training Complex. Jefferson Abian, Pilmico Assistant Vice President for Feeds-Mindanao, said this R&D center will house a training center, research and development hubs, and fully equipped laboratories where faculty, students, specialists, and backyard farmers may be exposed, immersed, and trained on the actual production of high-quality swine, poultry, and aquaculture.
