Stable power DEPARTMENT of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso Cusi has issued an advisory to all power generation companies and industry stakeholders to ensure reliable and stable supply of energy as the government started its coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine rollout.

Cusi directed generation companies to ensure power supply especially in Covid-19 vaccine cold storage facilities and healthcare facilities, with prepared emergency response protocols and continuity plans in cases of power outages.

Necessary support including installation of backup power supply should be provided in cold storage facilities and healthcare facilities.

'No vax, No work' DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III on Saturday announced that they will issue an advisory on the issue of vaccination in workplaces early next week.

“We will issue an advisory, not an order on Monday. We will advise everyone that nobody can be forced to undergo vaccination without his or her consent and any policy that is requiring vaccination for work will be declared illegal,” he said in a Laging Handa briefing.

Bello said this is to make employers aware of this rule.

Local 2 Andanar: Normin poverty incidence drops to 17.3% with ELCAC

RIORITIZING conflict-affected and poverty-stricken areas, Communications Sec. and Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS)-10 Martin Andanar said the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC)-10 marked a substantial reduction of poverty rate in the region from 32.3 percent among families in 2015 to 17.3 percent in 2018.

“The coming together of stakeholders, and the transformation into peaceful and productive communities were made possible with the implementation of CAPDev (Convergence Areas for Peace and Development), our enabling umbrella program that has been institutionalized at all levels

of governance,” Andanar said during the Joint NTF-ELCAC and RTF-ELCAC-10 Meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte, March 5.

The secretary also highlighted the Barangay Development Program, which he cites as a way to revisit and reorient one’s self on who and where the enemies operate; and recognize the fundamental tenets of good governance, citizen participation, and synchronized action by all sectors, not in combat, but in conviction to achieve the marching order of the President.

For his part, National Security Adviser Sec. Hermogenes Esperon, Jr. thanked the secretaries, LGU officials and national agencies as they continued to manifest their commitment to end the

local communist armed conflict.

He said the government is very proud of the Regional Task Force Region 10 under Andanar for accomplishing a lot for the region.

"We start this to collectively battle the pandemic, to ensure peace and safety for our people in northern Mindanao and Mindanao as a whole," Esperon said.

Assuring Esperon of the continued support for the President’s goal on ending local communist armed conflict, Andanar said, “The work continues and must be pursued with greater commitment and passion as the deadline set by President Rodrigo Duterte to ELCAC is by 2022, meaning less than two years from now or to be exact around 480 calendar days.” (RTP/PIA10)

Region 10 receives over 17K Sinovac vaccines THE Department of Health in Northern Mindanao (DOH-10) received Thursday at least 17,400 vials of Sinovac vaccines.

Dr. Ellenietta N. Gamolo, DOH-10 officerin-charge director, said the vaccines were immediately brought to the DOH-10 warehouse for accounting, checking, and cold chain management from the Laguindingan Airport shortly before 6 a.m.

Thursday.

“We will be following the prioritization

framework, to start with Covid-19 dedicated hospitals such as Level 3 public hospitals particularly NMMC (staterun Northern Mindanao Medical Center), then Level 3 private hospitals, then Level 2 government hospitals, and level 2 private hospitals,” Gamolo said.

The Sinovac vaccine has been granted emergency use authorization (EUA) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is considered safe and effective, she pointed out.

“We urge everyone who is part of the priority group for this vaccination to get vaccinated. For those who are not yet a priority for the vaccine, please continue practicing the BIDA Plus Solusyon,” Gamolo said.

Meanwhile, NMMC health workers and staff would be the first to be inoculated on Friday.

Dr. Bernard Julius Rocha, NMMC's liaison officer, said that out of the hospital's 1,700 medical workers, at least 1,300 have agreed to be vaccinated, based on a recent internal survey.

Rocha said medical front-liners manning patient care centers would also be given priority. The plan was to get at least 80 percent inside NMMC's workforce to receive the vaccine, he added Gamolo said the persons expected to receive the first doses are based on the prioritization group set by the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG), and first on the prioritization list are the Level 3 DOH hospitals, such as the NMMC. Cebu Landmasters set to launch its flagship economic housing brand to four more VisMin cities in 2021 CEBU Landmasters Inc. (CLI) recently announced the 2021 rollout of its flagship economic housing brand Casa Mira to four more key cities in the Visayas-Mindanao region as the response to the massive demand for safe and secure value housing heightened by the pandemic.

A study from Leechiu Property Consultants disclosed that by 2022, housing backlog is estimated to reach 6.8 million housing units, 44% of which is from the economic segment catered by the Casa Mira brand.

CLI chief executive officer Jose Soberano III observed that the housing backlog in the Visayas Mindanao region became very apparent in 2020 as infections from COVID-19 surged highlighting a need for economic housing in secure and well-planned communities.

He said: “Many new residential seekers met that need by purchasing Casa Mira homes. As demand in other parts of the region continues to be largely unmet, we’ve made it our mission to roll out more Casa Mira projects in more VisMin cities to fill that gap.”

Ten Casa Mira communities with a development cost of P10.24 billion and a total of over 10,000 housing units are currently in five VisMin locations: Cebu, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo and Sibulan, Negros Oriental.

New developments will be launched in Dumaguete this month and in other key cities in VisMin in the next few months particularly in Ormoc, Puerto Princesa and Davao City.

At the height of the pandemic in 2020, Vismin residents purchased in record numbers CLI’s Casa Mira housing units priced from Php 1.6 M. They altogether accounted for 69% of CLI’s reservation sales of P14.23 billion, the firm’s highest to date. This robust sales figure indicates the level of revenue CLI will be recording in the future of which Casa Mira has always been a significant contributor with 30% share.

“We believe that an expansive mood and lessons learned from the pandemic–where homes in well-planned communities

provided a safe haven–will drive Casa Mira forward for the balance of the year,” says Soberano.

Through Casa Mira, CLI has maintained the largest residential market share in Visayas and Mindanao by upgrading the lifestyle of its residents with generous community amenities usually packaged with higher-priced developments. Thus, Casa Mira townhouses with floor areas from 40 sqm. to 62 sqm. or residential condominium units with floor areas from 20 sqm. to 36 sqm. are perceived to offer great value.

Casa Mira communities also offer more value to the buyers by providing more open spaces and more amenities such as a clubhouse with multipurpose halls, chapel, swimming pool, basketball court and children’s playground. Casa Mira is also envisioned to be a complete community with retail spaces inside the subdivisions where residents can purchase their basic necessities.

Casa Mira homes have been warmly received in every city, even in Dumaguete where it was recently launched. “We envision each Casa Mira project to provide the most ideal community for the average Filipino Family. It’s a place where families can grow and live their best lives,” explained Soberano.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, I keep on scrolling and scrolling and scrolling.

I find myself in bed at night scrolling news sites and knowing this is not healthy for me… so why am I doing this?” Easy to explain: I am looking for (somehow) good news.

It’s a question many doomscrollers have been asking themselves. There are multiple reasons why

the urge to read may be so strong: the feeling of safety in knowledge, especially during difficult times; the design of social-media platforms that constantly refresh and boost the loudest voices; and, of course, the human fascination aspect.

Beyond knowing i nt u i t i v e l y t h at d o o m scrolling makes us feel awful, studies conducted during the pandemic have corroborated this, linking both anxiety and d e pre ss i on to t he consumption of Covid-19 related media and increased time spent on smartphones.

So, why do we keep endlessly scrolling – ­ and why can the practice feel oddly soothing?

And could there actually be surprising upsides to keeping our eyes locked on our feeds?

“The precursor to going online was that people would watch the 11 o’clock news,

[which] was terrifying,” says Dean McKay, a Fordham Un i v e r s i t y p s y c h o l o g y professor who specialises in compulsive behaviour and anxiety disorders. That terror, when witnessed from the comfort of the viewer’s home, howe ve r, h a d a potentially calming effect.

McKay describes the attitude as people acknowledging “things are pretty horrible, [but] I’m comfortable, so I'm going to be able to sleep well tonight knowing that [I can feel good about] my station in life”.

McKay suggests doom scrolling could be a “modern equivalent”. But, unlike the 2300 news, it doesn’t stop at a fixed hour. During the uniquely uncertain and scary times of 2020, it’s no surprise that people like Bernstein scrolled well into the night.

They needed information

– at first because little was available about the virus, and then because they got sucked into the never-ending news cycle about it.

As Pamela Rutledge, director of the Californiabased Media Psychology Research Center, puts it, doom scrolling “really just describes the compulsive need to try and get answers when we’re afraid”. After all, we do have to assess whether new information constitutes a threat. “We are biologically driven to attend to that,” says Rutledge.

THE vaccination program in the Philippines is fraught with p olitics, c ynicism brought about by ignorance, prejudice, and the ingrained predilection for Americanmade products. All these beyond the primordial and universal concern to make every individual adequately protected from Covid-19 virus which had infected more t han 115-mi l lion people 2.54-million of which perished.

In the Philippines, more than 578-thousands cases had been recorded and still counting while 12,322 died.

As I write this piece, Metro Manila cases had surged back to not less than 2-thousand cases daily. But it is very important to take note that of these cases 534-thousands plus had recovered in the entire country.

Davao Region on the other

hand showed a dramatic decrease in cases. From nearly 150 cases on a daily average in January and towards late February, the region is down to only less than 50.

Active cases are also down to 1,337 which means that the recovery rate has also significantly increased.

It is important to take hold of these statistics for it is important in decisionmaking. In government hospitals in Metro Manila, the number of health frontliners who are on top of the priority list of those who will receive vaccination against the coronavirus was high.

They expected to have the Pfizer vaccine made in the USA which was set to arrive on March 1. Scheduled to arrive earlier was 600,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines which are donations from China.

For one reason or another Pfizer, delivery did not materialize. The supply actually is to come from the Covax facility (co-led by World Health Organization and GAVI). Covax targets 2-billion doses to be equitably allocated to countries that have difficulties accessing supplies). No definite date was given as to when the 530,000 doses will arrive.

The initial day of vaccination drive in the country last March 1 was however met with a pocket demonstration of some health workers who refused to be inoculated with Sinovac which they said is made in China. They asserted that their sole option is the USmade Pfizer. This skepticism moreover was dismissed by the head of the Philippine General Hospital, Dr. Gerardo ”Gap” Legaspi, who asserted

Cebu Pacific taps local banks for P16-B loan CEBU Air, Inc., operator of budget carrier Cebu Pacific, on Friday said its board approved a P16billio, ten-year loan from local banks.

In a disclosure to the stock exchange on Friday, the company said that its board of directors approved the loan from state banks Development Bank of the Philippines and Land Bank of the Philippines, in partnership

with private banks.

The private banks include Asia United Bank Corporation, Bank of the Philippines Islands, Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company, and Union Bank of the Philippines.

The loan will be used to fund the firm’s capital expenditures and other general corporate purposes.

German firm, biz group support PH’s renewable energy shift THE German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI), the German Biogas Association, and Lipp GmBH started a series of trainings with its Philippine partners on the use of biogas technology.

The training started on March 2 with participants from Dole Philippines, representatives from the

Inflation upticks still temporary: Diokno

D

OMESTIC rate of price increases surpassed the government’s target band for the second consecutive month last February at 4.7 percent but Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno maintains this remains temporary.

In a Viber message to journalists Friday, Diokno said the inflation print in the second month this year, the fifth month of acceleration, is within the central bank’s 4.3-5.1 percent forecast for the month.

“The latest outturn is consistent with the BSP’s assessment of a transitory uptick in inflation in H1 (first half ) 2021, reflecting the impact of weather-related disturbances, the African swine fever on food prices, higher global oil prices, as well as positive based effects,” he said.

Average inflation to date stood at 4.5 percent, higher than the 2-4

percent target range until 2023.

Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and oil items, also posted an uptick to 3.5 percent from month-ago’s 3.4 percent, bringing the two-month average of 3.5 percent.

Diokno said supply-side factors continue to drive inflation rate but added: “the overall balance of risks to future inflation continues to lean toward the downside owing mainly to the continued uncertainty caused by the pandemic on domestic and global economic activity.”

Upside risks, in turn, “could emanate from the possibility of an early rollout of Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) vaccines in the Philippines,” he said.

Diokno said since supply-side factors currently drive the inflation rate, there is no need to address this using monetary response

“unless they lead to second-round effects.”

“Supply-side shocks are best addressed by non-monetary interventions that ease domestic supply constraints,” he said, citing “direct measures are being pursued by the national government to enhance the availability of affected commodities.”

Diokno said the BSP’s policymonetary Monetary Board (MB) “will consider carefully recent price developments that could influence the outlook for inflation along with evidence of second-round effects during the monetary policy meeting on 25 March 2021.”

“The BSP stands ready to deploy its full arsenal of instruments as needed in fulfillment of its mandate to maintain price and financial stability conducive to sustainable economic growth,” he added. (PNA)

Public now more aware of mechanisms vs. cybercrime: BSP FILIPINOS are now more aware of the mechanisms against cybercrime as shown by the number of complaints submitted to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

In a virtual briefing Thursday, BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno said the central bank’s Consumer Protection and Market Conduct Office received about 20,000 complaints last year alone.

Diokno said around 13 percent of these complaints involve fraudulent or unauthorized transactions of various financial products and services like deposit, credit card, electronic money (e-money), and remittance.

“We think that the

volume of complaints we received is an indication that more people are now more aware of the BSP’s consumer assistance mechanism,” he said.

Diokno said “these complaints were referred to in the respective financial institutions for appropriate handling and response.”

He said these cases are among the reasons why monetary officials are pushing for the passage of the proposed measures that will further protect consumers.

These measures include the proposed Financial Consumer Protect Act (FCPA), a consolidated version of Financial Products and Services Consumer Protection

Act which was passed on third reading on June 2, 2020 in the House of Representatives.

Diokno said this bill “enhances the authority of regulators to protect the interest of financial consumers.”

“This is seen to instill discipline among financial service providers, boost public confidence in our financial markets, and promote financial stability.

We hope that this critical bill (will) be passed into law, especially with the prevalence of fraudulent activities related to financial consumers,” he added.

In 2020, more people used electronic channels for their financial transactions,

among others, after the government imposed quarantine measures to address the rise of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections.

BSP data earlier released showed that volume of PESONet transactions jumped by a whopping 376 percent year-on-year to 15.3 million in 2020, while InstaPay transactions surged by 459 percent to 86.7 million.

These two facilities are clearing houses under the central bank’s National Retail Payment System (NRPS) program, launched in 2017 and 2018, respectively, targeted to help accelerate the BSP’s digital payments bid.

Covid-19 vax rollout seen to boost bank lending THE rollout of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccine program is expected to increase chances of further reopening the domestic economy and support bank lending amidst its continued slowdown as of last January due to the pandemic.

Data released by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) on Tuesday showed a deeper year-on-year contraction in bank lending, excluding those placed by banks in the central bank’s overnight reverse repurchase (RRP) facility, of -2.4 percent from month-ago’s -0.7 percent.

In a report, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) chief economist Michael Ricafort said the latest bank lending figure for universal and commercial banks (U/ KBs) is the weakest in more than 14 years, or since August 2006.

Ricafort said this development is “consistent with slower business/economic conditions, in view of the GDP (gross domestic product) contraction of -9.5 percent in 2020 and -8.5 percent in fourthquarter 2020 largely brought about by the Covid-19 lockdowns/ pandemic.”

“The latest -2.4

percent contraction in bank loans data (is) also consistent with expectations/estimates of low single-digit year-onyear contraction in 1Q (first quarter) 2021 GDP (partly due to higher base/denominator a year ago, shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic/ lockdowns),” he said.

Ricafort said bank lending growth “has always been much faster, by about 7-10 percentage points, vis-a-vis GDP growth) for many years/ decades.”

In the coming months, he said further easing of quarantine restrictions is seen to boost bank lending since this will result in

more active economic activities thus, a pick-up in loan demand.

“Any pick up in imports, manufacturing, and other business/ economic activities would also lead to some pick up in loan demand,” Ricafort said.

The low interest rate environment, which is a result of the 200 basis points reduction in BSP’s key policy rates last year, is also projected to entice borrowers to take out loans, he said.

He added additional infrastructure spending by the government is also forecast to help lift bank lending since this has higher multiplier effects on the economy. (PNA)

The Philippines’ leading carrier, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB) carried COVID vaccines to Zamboanga and Tuguegarao today, March 05, 2021. The vaccines are the first to

be received by said local destinations.

The vaccines arrived at the CEB Cargo warehouse at around 10:30PM on March 04, Thursday. After its standard screening

protocols, all 35 boxes (17 for Zamboanga, 18 for Tuguegarao) were stored in a 20-footer refrigerated carrier reefer van, equipped with cooling systems, to preserve the condition of the vaccines. A total of 21,000 doses were carried by CebGo, the operator of Cebu Pacific’s turboprop fleet.

SCHOOLS have embraced apps and remote classes in the past year. Some see benefits in virtual learning but others fear the impact on disadvantaged children and privatization by stealth.

Skeptics, however, warn that a digital divide further widens existing attainment gaps and inequalities faced by disadvantaged children.

Pre-COVID, Google had already gained a dominant

position in many schools by providing its edtech tools free or at low cost.

In the first month of the p andemic, t he numb er of active users of Google Classroom doubled to 100 million.

The government has helped facilitate big tech’s expansion in education. In late April, it announced a scheme to provide free t e c h n i c a l s upp or t a n d training in Google and Microsoft education digital tools. Since then, some 2.4 million new user accounts have been created for the two platforms. In April, Google donated 4,000 free Chromebooks and 100,000 WiFi hotspots for students’ home learning.

The Hineleban Coffee Story

H

INELEBAN Coffee was the first endeavor under the Sustainable Disposable Income Crop (SDIC) section of Hineleban Foundation Inc. (HFI).

Eventually, HFI was largely shaped by its experience with the coffee program in partnership with some Indigenous People's (IP) communities of Bukidnon.

Coffee was the initial crop HFI decided to grow with the IP's for two main reasons: first, Arabica coffee had been proven to grow well in the region since the 1800’s when Spanish colonists introduced coffee to the Philippines; second, HFI founder John Perrine’s passion for quality coffee had already compiled decades of personal research and development of the Arabica coffee in Tuminugan Farm.

By the time HFI started supplying its partner-farmers with seedlings and inputs to start farming coffee, the dispersed seedlings were varietal hybrids from both Asia and South America established in Tuminugan.

By 2008, Oroy Villara, who had been growing the coffee on Tuminugan Farm for decades, selected cherries from the most successfully fruiting mother plants, propagated thousands of seedlings, and distributed these as the first batch of Hineleban Coffee to our IP partner farmers.

During the same period, Villara trained HFI technicians known as Values Coordinating Officers who in turn trained Hineleban partner farmers, equipping them with production technology to successfully grow the coffee on their own lands.

However, when the first harvests were made in 2010, the farmers informed HPI they had no buyers for their produce, and did not know how to process the cherries to green beans for storage.

HFI also learned there was no single facility with a complete set of coffee processing equipment to produce quality green or roasted coffee within the region.

The Transformational Business Partnership: Coffee Chapter At this point, Kalugumanan AgriDevelopment Corp.

(KADC, which had been managing the Tuminugan Farm) financed the building of the first Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved postharvest facility in Region X with imported machineries acquired through DTI which could convert cherries to green beans and thence as roasted coffee. This enabled HFI to produce high quality packaged specialty coffee, now known as one of the Philippines' best arabica coffee.

HFI saw this as the way to make growing arabica sustainable for its partner farmers. Optimal profits were shared back to the farmer as partners by increasing the buy-back

price of cherries 3 times over its prevailing market price.

Since closing the loop from farmer to processor to consumer, HFI with KADC had been able to buy all the IP farmer's harvests every year, with 2021 being their 11th year as partners.

Thus began the Transformational Business Partnership (TBP): HINELEBAN- KADC-IP Partner Farmer agreement: Community relations Production technology Harvest technology Buy back cherries Adding value: quality control through processing Marketing: branding, packaging, shipping & distributing the final product Customer service To date, this has meant that Hineleban partner farmers have been able to earn up to P150,000 per year for growing one hectare of coffee.

to a cemented two story home, sent his children to school, and financed five motorcycles (for his habalhabal business), a jeepney (for public transportation) and a light truck for trucking purposes.

This is how HFI defines TBP — a true partnership of equals that elevates the dignity of an average farmer to that of a Proud Provider, Sustainable Farmer, and Businessman.

Achievements When introducing Hineleban Coffee as a branded product to the public, we realized how hard it was to pronounce and recall the word Hineleban .

To circumvent this, the marketing group launched the Sip and Reforest Campaign through which a forest tree on the foothills of Mount Kitanglad is planted for every pack of Hineleban Coffee purchased.

Hineleban Coffee represented the Philippines along with several other local coffee growers at the 2017 Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Global Expo in Seattle, Washington, USA. Hineleban Coffee was graded by Marty Curtis as EXCELLENT at 86.25%.

Curtis is the co-founder of the SCA and inventor of the SCA Coffee Cupping Scoring Sheet, and the Coffee Flavor Wheel.

Significant Contributors Hineleban Foundation’s path to producing excellent coffee was a difficult and challenging one. Our team was mentored by numerous individuals who came from all around the world to help us improve.

Looking at the statistics Sinovac’s Coronavax would indeed be very effective given the number of transmissions the rate of recovery is quite high which means these are moderate cases of infection.

This China-made vaccine, therefore, is as good as any in addressing that. It will be a different story if you get infected while waiting for the US or UK-made vaccine. Turkey had in fact just announced that the efficacy of Coronavax is 100%!

One week from the start of the immunization drive we witnessed our health authorities demonstrating their trust and confidence in Sinovac’s Coronavax. This is not to mean that we rely on it alone. China today has the most number of billionaires in the world, their farmers living in high-rise condominiums, riding in latest models of flashy cars commuting great distances in high-speed trains over land and seas spanned by excellent roads and bridges.

China is being demonized and demeaned by the West.

We are bombarded with all sorts of black propaganda scaring the wits of the gullible that China will wage war against the Philippines. The Chinese people are no fools to distract and impede the development and progress that they enjoy today. They do not send fleet of warships.

In the Philippines, they provide cheap loans and grants to help us build muchneeded infrastructures not to mention the number of projects that cost billions of pesos. which they build for free.

Last week our vaccination program started fueled by 600,000 vials gifted to us

by China. Another 400,000 Coronavacs are scheduled to arrive soon.

K a re n L o Ts a i , t h e Philippines’ only Q-grader in 2010, was the first to officially grade Hineleban as the Best Arabica of the Philippines. She has since been an esteemed proponent in pushing excellent local coffee, especially Hineleban.

In 2016, the foundation joined efforts with ACDI/ VOCA to educate other coffee producers in Bukidnon, both small holders and COOPs, on how to improve their production, and how to properly process them to international standards.

Hineleban’s processing facility was used as the venue to educate them on the proper methods of processing coffee 4 ways: natural, fully-washed, semi-washed and honey processes.

After thes e training sessions, the first Philippine Cupping Competition was held in 2017, with 11 of the top 12 winners coming from Bukidnon, including Hineleban.

For the past 3 years, Metrobank Foundation has given Hineleban a grant to help other small holder farmers not included in the current partnership.

Hineleban transferred the technology and rehabilitated their coffee trees by sharing production standards and har vest technology, subsequently increasing their market opportunities by selling their own packs or adding their harvests to the Hineleban roster.

In farming, there is still so much to learn, and the foundation made tireless efforts to learn from the best.

We were bestowed with a wealth of knowledge by Dr. Rafael Creencia, a Filipino that led Vietnam to being the second-largest coffee producer of the world; Joji Pantojas from Coffee for Peace for sharing the same vision of Peace through

Coffee; Daniel Mulu Asfaw, Coffee Value Training Expert from Coffee Quality Institute; the late Dr. Chinapra, Coffee Expert from India; the late Dan Khun from Kona Coffee Hawaii; Joel Schuler, Lead Consultant for the Coffee Quality Institute from the US; Mario Roberto Fernandez A l d u e n d a , Te c h n i c a l Director for Processing at the SCA; Reyno Almonia for his unrelenting passion to improve the processing and roasting and not the least, Thelonious Trimmle, Director of ACDI/VOCA for pushing Filipino coffee in the world wide arena.
