Ban on minors GENERAL Santos City -- The city government is set to launch another round of inspections to ensure strict compliance with a prevailing protocol that prohibits minors aged 14-years-old and below from entering business establishments. Mayor Ronnel Rivera said the local government has standing orders that only allow residents aged 15-years-old and above to go out of their homes for various essential purposes and transactions. He said senior citizens or those aged 60-yearsold and above are already allowed to engage in public transactions, except for those with comorbidities or illnesses critical to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) complications.

ACT OF GOODNESS. One single gesture of goodness means a lot for lowly trisikad drivers plying the Abellanosa-Manuel Vega-Burgos streets in Cagayan de Oro City as they were surprisingly handed out with a gift pack containing few kilos of rice, canned goods and noodles from an unexpected philantropist, a woman they commonly call "Nanay" who owns a small store near their terminal. But for nanay Coleta Tolentino, sharing something for the less fortunate out of her small earnings especially at this time of the pandemic, was a joy that fills her heart as she celebrated her 86th birthday Wednesday, March 17. Nanay Coleta said she chose the gift-giving activity rather than spend for lavish celebration for it is more gratifying. photo by rolando sudaria
