Briefly Tariff on banana DAVAO City -- The Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters Association (PBGEA) has expressed hope that President Rodrigo Duterte’s visit to South Korea would result in reduced tariff for the export of Cavendish bananas. PBGEA members were elated when they were invited to join the team of the President, through Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, PBGEA executive director, Stephen Antig, said during a press conference at the Apo View Hotel here Friday. The association was given five slots to join the Philippines-South Korea Business Forum and Witnessing of the Exchange of Business Agreement, to be held on June 5 on the sidelines of Duterte’s visit to South Korea.

AVAO City — Security issues remain a concern for Australian businessmen and more work is needed to encourage them to take a look at other places in Mindanao that are relatively safe, Australian Ambassador Amanda Gorely said.

“We still have some work to do to encourage further Australian interests and investments in Mindanao… Security might be a concern. Obviously, I feel very safe here. Islamic heritage COTABATO City – In an effort to highlight the heritage of Moro people in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), the region’s Bureau of Cultural Heritage (BCH-ARMM) on Thursday conducted a forum on Islamic heritage as part of this year’s National Heritage Month celebration. “Islamic heritage is very important because it influences Moro culture and maintain its identity distinct from others,” Engr. Marites Maguindra, BCH-ARMM executive director, said on Friday. Maguindra said the forum was very timely because it came during the fasting month of Ramadan.
