Disaster preparedness DAVAO City – The Davao Regional Development Council has called on the support of the municipal and barangay government units and other stakeholders to their respective provincial enhanced plans on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation. RDC-XI chair and Davao del Norte Governor Rodolfo del Rosario made the call during the recent RDC-XI’s regional advocacy forum on DRR/CCA-Enhanced Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plans. Del Rosario said the PDPFP of each of the four provinces in the region assures the integration of DRR/CCA in the local development planning and decision-making processes. RDC-XI vice chair and regional director Ma. Lourdes D. Lim of the National Economic and Development Authority, said the PDPFP also assures the commitment of the governors to “pursue disaster-preventing and mitigating interventions identified in the plans.”
Banknotes DAVAO City -- Old peso banknotes will no longer have monetary value beginning January 1, 2017, this according to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). During a press conference held at the BSP office in Davao City, Central Bank officials led by BSP Deputy Governor Diwa Gunigundo explained the demonetization schedule of the central bank for old notes (1985 New Design Series). The 1985 NDS was replaced by the New Generation Currency (NGC) in 2010. According to the BSP schedule, old NDS notes can still be used this year however by January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016 the old banknotes can no longer be used for daily transactions, they can only be exchanged in authorized agent banks and BSP Cash Department or any regional offices/branches.

HE major infrastructure component of the Mindanao Development Corridors will need an estimated P625 billion and about P100 billion has been allocated for this year, the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) reported.
Part of the total budgetary requirement is P250 billion for roads, seaports and airports that are targeted for implementation within
