Demand for condo DAVAO City -- A private real estate consultancy firm has noted a strong demand for condominiums in Davao City. Jet Yu, managing director of Prime Philippines said the strong demand for condominium in Davao is reminiscent of the bullish market for condominiums in Manila in 2011 and 2012. He also noted that some condominiums are priced at P150,000 to P160,000 per square meters and some are pegged at P200,000 per square meter. This is equivalent to condominiums sold in the high end Bonifacio Global City or in Makati. About 40% of the condominium buyers are Dabawenyos while 50% of the buying market came from different parts of Mindanao about 10% of the buyers are from Manila.
Cacao financing SINDANGAN, Zamboanga del Norte has won approval from the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) for its P32-million proposal for a cacao development program. “The proposed project is in line with the province’s provincial commodity investment plan which listed cacao as an emerging commodity in the province and sees it a vehicle to combat poverty and attain inclusive growth not only the traders but the farmers as well,” Cerenio T. Tila, PRDP-Mindanao planning head, said in a statement. The proposal was submitted by the Sindangan Facoma Community Multipurpose Cooperative after government agencies in Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) signed a memorandum of agreement in support of the project.

HE Department of Energy (DOE) is stepping up “restoration efforts” on electricity service at the domains of battle-scarred Marawi City as well as along neighboring areas. The department, in a statement to the media, emphasized that it has been closely coordinating with various stakeholders in bringing back power supply especially in critical areas afflicted by the ongoing “arm strife” in Marawi City. Employment awaits MisOr inmates after serving prison GINGOOG City -- The provincial government of Misamis Oriental is ready to provide jobs to qualified inmates after serving a prison term, provincial governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano said. “Inmates who are freed after serving prison terms deserve another chance,” Emano told the inmates here after the blessing of the newly renovated chapel in the jail facility. NORTHERN Mindanao will soon have more one-townone-products (OTOPs). This, after the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) urged local government units (LGUs) here to adopt more than one OTOPs in their respective localities.
