Mindanao trademark THE Mindanao Collective Trademark (MCT) system, which seeks to promote the region’s products to international consumers, was launched yesterday in Davao City. Inaugurating the system’s launch, European Union (EU) Ambassador to the Philippines Franz Jessen noted the lack of a “solid regulatory framework” that would allow for the introduction of geographical indications (GI) for locally made products -- a problem which the MCT seeks to solve. “Instead, the limiting factor is the time it takes to develop a solid regulatory framework that protects producers and incentivizes cooperatives and label owners such as MindA to come up with their own Geographical Indications,” Mr. Franz said, according to the text of a speech sent to media.
‘Ambisyon Natin’ HOW do Filipinos envision themselves and the country come 2040? The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), in partnership with World Bank’s Knowledge for Development Community (KDC) presented the findings of the long-term visioning project dubbed “AmBisyon Natin 2040” at Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City on June 20, as part of its Mindanao leg of sharing and stakeholder consultations. The event aims to establish a wider coalition for AmBisyon Natin 2040 as it intends to communicate its collective goals to various stakeholders, particularly the youth. It also seeks to document the public’s comments and inputs on the results of the national survey and identify ways and activities to bolster awareness, support, and ownership of the vision.
