SteelAsia in Phividec STEELASIA Manufacturing Corp., the country’s largest steel bars manufacturer, is investing about half a billion dollars over the next three to five years as the Yao Group expands into the production of downstream steel products such as wire rods, plates, and section (I-Beam and H-Beam) to support the strong resurgence in the country’s manufacturing sector. “We will kick off these projects this year,” said Yao noting these projects will go into full commercial operation in three to five years. This expansion program into the downstream steel products marks the company’s 50th anniversary. For its Candelaria plant, SteelAsia is expected to produce 600,000 MT of wire rods that would address the 800,000 MT domestic demand.
