Food innovation WITH the vision of stirring innovation and creativity among food entrepreneurs, the Department of Trade and Industry Misamis Oriental Provincial Office along with the Department of Science and Technology and the Mindanao University of Science and technology thru the Northern Mindanao Food Innovation Center held a one-day Food Innovation Forum and Tiangge 2016 on 20 July in Cagayan de oro City. The forum intends to inculcate innovation and to encourage micro food industries to continuously do research and product development as essential for business, to be able to stay ahead, if not survive global competition. It is now the right time to innovate as micro food entrepreneurs are more equipped with the existence of the Northern Mindanao Food Innovation Center at Mindanao University of Science and Technology, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.
BIMP-Eaga tech schools DAVAO City -- Technical Education Skills Development Authority XI expressed hope that the First BIMP-Eaga TechnicalVocational Enhancement Forum conducted early this week here would establish a network among technical educational schools in the area for possible teacher-student exchange, sharing of curriculum relative to the Asian integration for mutual recognition and arrangement within the region. Arlene Bandong, spokesperson of the TESDA XI at the Habi at Kape Press Forum in Abreeza Mall recalled that technical educational institutions from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and many parts of Mindanao responded to the forum, participated by a hundred delegates. Bandong said the qualification framework is being worked out now by these countries now knowing that the educational level of students varies from the BIMP-Eaga member countries.

In his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, President Duterte said his administration aims to lower rates for both personal income tax and corporate tax. The Chief Executive noted that pushing for tax reforms will foster job creation as more investors will be attracted with the competitive tax rates here. In Southeast Asia, the Philippines has the highest rates for income and corporate taxes.
