Briefly Customs automation The country’s move towards full customs automation will make it easier for exporters, importers and traders to comply with complex customs processes, thus facilitating trade and lowering the cost of doing business. The customs automation is provided under the Republic Act 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) signed by former President Benigno S. Aquino III. Export Development Council (EDC) Deputy Executive Director Emma Mijares said automated system will reduce the time of processing, documentation requirements, as well as time and cost in going to Customs office.

Roadmap to peace OFFICE of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) Secretary Jesus Dureza on Tuesday announced that President Rodrigo Duterte has approved a new “Roadmap to Peace” that would cover all groups fighting the government. ”So let me open up by immediately informing everyone that the President yesterday approved the new “Roadmap to Peace”, we call it,” Dureza said in a press conference at the Malacanan Palace. Dureza said the ‘New Road Map to Peace’ would cover the government engagement with the Bangsamoro, the Communist Party of the Philippines-National Democratic Front (CPP-NDF), and other groups like the Cordillera People’s Liberation Army.

EVENUES by the Cagayan de Oro port are expected to soar with the opening yesterday of Pilipinas Shell Petroleum’s P6-billion storage facility at the Macabalan port here, its largest outside Luzon, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) said. For the past eight years, the PPA noted a steady decline in cargo ship calls at the Port of Cagayan de Oro since the operation of the larger Mindanao Container Terminal located at the nearby Phividec Industrial Estate in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. In the first quarter of this year alone, there were only 31 foreign ship calls at the Port of Cagayan de Oro compared to 60 at shell/PAGE 7
