Despite difficulties in coconut production, the The Barog Katawhan sa Governor Generoso Multi-Purpose Cooperative in San Isidro, Davao Oriental continued to cultivate their crop with the hope that it will eventually command better price. The cooperative is known for their coco sugar which is a derivative of boiled coconut sap, which is also widely used for vinegar and native wine called “tuba” in most Visayan and Mindanao dialects

ORONADAL City – The European Union (EU) has poured a combined grant of 60.5 million euros (around P3.4 billion) for peace and development projects in Mindanao, with focus on the fledgling Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III announced on Sunday. New MinDA Asec DAVAO City — Former three-term mayor Mayor Cherrylyn Santos-Akbar of Isabela City, Basilan, newly-appointed Assistant Secretary, has been detailed at the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) where she has been tasked by Secretary Emmanuel Piñol to “handle the Bangsamoro projects and activities of the agency,” according to a MinDA press release. Akbar was introduced to the MinDA Management Committee during a Zoom meeting last Tuesday. Piñol, according to the press release, tasked Akbar to focus on the development programs in Taraka, Lanao del Sur, one of MinDA’s flagship efforts for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
