Rehab plans IN response to the current crisis in Marawi City, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) chief Catalino S. Cuy, together with DILG Undersecretary Austere A. Panadero and DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe, visited the area to check on its situation and concerns. Assemblyman of Lanao del Sur first district, Zia Alonto Adiong, pointed out the severity of damage in Marawi City. With this, concerns and proposals on rehabilitation, identification system for affected residents, and security measures among others were deliberated together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and other personnel concerned. During the meeting, addressing concerns on rehabilitation is noted to be essential with the growing numbers of evacuees that needs to be facilitated. Thus, a process is still being looked into to distinguish residents who were actually affected by the incident by coming up of an efficient ID system for the internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Diarrhea outbreak declared in Misor town By MARK FRANCISCO, Staff Writer
Tourist arrivals up DESPITE terror threats and the martial law declaration in Mindanao, foreign tourist arrivals to the Philippines from January to May this year rose by 14.43 percent to 2.882-million visitors versus the 2.519-million visitors in the same period last year. In an interview with the Philippine News Agency, Department of Tourism (DOT) Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Frederick Alegre said this was driven by the agency’s aggressive marketing efforts and the holding of international events in the country including the ASEAN Summit. Alegre said the top three markets are still Korea with 128,691 arrivals, USA with 83,056 arrivals, and China with 83,649 arrivals. For the month of May alone, the Philippines acquired 532,757 arrivals which is an increase of 19.60 percent compared to May 2016 arrivals at 445,449, he said.
