Briefly Repurposed van A POWER firm operating in Bukidnon has donated a school facility made of repurposed container van. Hedcor, the hydropower renewable energy arm of AboitizPower, converted a container van into a day care learning space for preschool children amounting to P700,000. In a statement Tuesday, the company said it erected the facility in Sitio Lower Sabangan in the town of Manolo Fortich.
Iran halal market THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has included Iran as among its priority export destination for halal products and services as it lined up several outbound business matching missions this year to promote the country’s exports. DTI Undersecretary for Trade Promotions Group Abdulgani M. Macatoman said that aside from Iran, DTI is also targeting the Gulf Cooperation Council states, Turkey, Egypt, China and Iran for halal products and services. DTI is also eyeing the neighboring countries in ASEAN for halal products and services. Macatoman said they will mount outbound missions to both traditional and nontraditional markets. For Europe, Canada, and East Asia, they are targeting for creative services and green business for Europe and East Asia.

Mindanao’s 2019 growth expected to rise at 7.2% M Thank you for trusting us!

I N DA NAO D e v e l o p m e n t Authority (MinDA) assistant secretary Romeo Montenegro said Mindanao’s economy is projected to grow by 7.2% in 2019 pending completion of data for the year, slightly higher compared to the growth attained in 2018 at 7.1%. Montenegro said the six Mindanao regions (Z amboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) are expected to outperform the overall national gross domestic product estimated at 6% within the government’s revised target of 6 to 6.5%. Montenegro said the robust p er for mance of Mindanao, which owed its sustained “expansion of
services, industry and agrifisheries sectors,” managed to “demonstrate uninterrupted” growth in nearly two decades since 2001 despite being conf ronte d wit h maj or challenges, including power crisis from 2011 to 2015 and a lack of vital infrastructure projects.
