DAVAO City – The municipality of Taraka in Lanao del Sur has undergone its first technical assessment for the solarpowered irrigation and drinking water program yesterday, the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) said in a statement on Monday. MinDa said its technical team as well as from Huangzhou Yatai conducted the initial site validation and assessment for the water project to determine river discharge requirement of 700 liters per hour. Taraka Mayor Nashiba Sumagayan had earlier expressed interest to MinDA about her intention to avail of the program after attending the launching of the MinDA Water Supply Program in this city last year.
Luring skilled workers OFFERING higher wages in the construction industry will address the shortage of skilled labor in the sector, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said Wednesday. Lopez told reporters that construction companies are now increasing wages to ensure that there will be no delays in their projects due to shortage in workforce. “We see it happening, because when you experience the shortage and you want certain projects to continue, you have no choice but to attract more skilled labors, skilled workforce and you're forced to add more,” he said.
