Teacher pay hike PUBLIC school teachers are expected to get salary increase beginning 2020, Malacanang announced on Tuesday. Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the entire cabinet reaffirmed during last Monday’s meeting the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte to find ways and means to increase the salary of teachers. Roque explained the increase would take effect beginning 2020 and not in 2019 as previously announced by the Palace. “The entire cabinet reaffirmed the President’s directive that we will continue to look for ways and means to effect an increase in the teacher’s salary but beginning 2020, not 2019,” Roque said.

Alliance for growth LAMITAN City, Basilan -- Local chief executives from the five municipalities of the western part of Basilan Island forged an alliance to spur peace and development in the area. At the recent consultation meeting with municipal executive officials and partners in Lantawan, the concept of Western Basilan Alliance (WBA) as a development platform was presented. Noor M. Saada, Project Manager of the Modeling InterLGU Alliance in Basilan (MILAB) project said that the consultation is second in a series to inform and mobilize support for the WBA. The Agencia Espanola de Cooperacion Internacional para el Desarrollo (Spanish Agency for International Development) AECID-funded MILAB Project and how this will support the WBA as a development platform was also introduced.

obtained copies of the dismissal order. A l s o ord e re d d i s m i s s e d were Elmer M. Wabe, Patrick U. Gabutina, and Roland M. Gabutina. Moreno and the three other cit y of f ici a ls were ordere d dismissed for Grave Misconduct, Serious Dishonesty and Conduct Prejudicial to the Best of Public Service. The dismissal order also carries

the penalties that cancels eligibility, forfeiture of retirement benefits and perpetual disqualification for re-employment in public service. The case against Divina B. Bade, Imelda Marie B. Beltran and Elsie P. Lopoy was dismissed. The Ombudsman ordered the DILG to implement the dismissal order dated April 17, 2017 against Moreno and three other city government officials.
