Banana farm DAVAO CITY — Banana exporter Unifrutti Tropical Philippines, Inc. is finalizing plans to develop a 1,000-hectare farm in the island province of Basilan. “There is already a tripartite agreement between the local government, ourselves and the cooperatives there,” Unifrutti Philippines President Alberto F. Bacani said in a press conference Friday. The agribusiness venture agreement is awaiting approval from the Provincial Agrarian Reform Council.
Workspace center DAVAO CITY — Homegrown Damosa Land Inc. (DLI) has inked a franchise agreement with International Workplace Group Co. (IWG) for the establishment of eight coworking centers in Mindanao over the next five years. “The franchise program is part of our global strategy,” Matthew James Kenley, IWG-Asia Pacific head of partner sh i p g ro w t h , s a i d during the signing ceremony on Jan. 24. The franchising deal with DLI is its second in the country, with the first located in Cebu. IWG, formerly Regus, has been operating two Regus centers in Davao City. The first one, located at DLI’s Topaz Tower in Davao City, was opened in 2016 and considered the biggest in the country at 1,600 square meters (sq.m.). Another Regus center can be found in Felcris Centrale since 2018.

HE city government of Cagayan de Oro has organized a multiagency task force Monday (February 3) to address the threat of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) acute respiratory disease, as three persons here are under observation for showing symptoms of the infectious illness.
Councilor George Goking said the body will be tasked with monitoring and taking appropriate response on individuals who may have been infected with the 2019nCoV and other issues related to it. The Task Force Novel Coronavirus is composed of representatives from the city health office, Department

DAVAO City – The Chinese Consulate General’s Office here has flown to Manila “all their nationals staying as tourists” in this city and other parts of Mindanao in the wake of the deadly 2019 novel coronavirus health crisis that originated in China, Consul General Li Lin said Monday.
Li revealed this amid the announcement that Xiamen Airlines (XiamenAir) cancelled all the direct flights between Jinjiang in the southeastern Chinese province of Fujian and Davao City for the whole month of February until further notice. FLOWN/PAGE 9
