Briefly TF Diwalwal NABUNTURAN, Compostela Valley – Gov. Jayvee Tyron Uy of Compostela Valley calls on the National Task Force Diwalwal (NTFD) to convene for the protection and rehabilitation of Mount Diwata in Monkayo. “There is a need to urgently address this matter through continuous and consistent meetings for our residents, their livelihoods and the environment. In behalf of the people of Compostela Valley, I strongly urge the Task Force Diwalwal to convene. Let’s fix this problem once and for all,” Uy emphasized. Created under Executive Order No 217, NTFD was established, among others, to create an environment conducive to lasting peace and sustainable development in Diwalwal and its environs. Uy stressed that even if the implementing arm of NTFD, which is the Program Monitoring and Coordination Committee (PMCC), is very active in addressing local issues, they need the NTFD to move in the national level and create a comprehensive plan for the development of the mountain, which contains the biggest gold reserve in the country, according to the data of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau.
Tax campaign logo TANDAG City -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) District Office 106 in Surigao del Sur has joined the simultaneous nationwide unveiling of the “2018 Salamat Sayo!” tax campaign logo during the simple flag-raising ceremony program on February 12, 2018. Roger Cadavas, BIR Revenue District Officer (RDO), said that the activity of their office was President Rodrigo Duterte’s and BIR Commissioner Ceasar Dulay’s way of saying “thank you” to the taxpaying public, citing the agency’s record-high collection growth rate of up to P1.779 trillion for the last five years. The BIR chief added that such Salamat Sayo! logo would soon be hung in tarps around the town for the public to see how great it was for both President Duterte and Commissioner Dulay to feel such an impressive tax collection feat made in 2017.

A LEADER of a transport group in Cagayan de Oro City admitted that 80 percent of their jeepneys could be classified as “bulok” or dilapidated. But National Confederation of Transport Union (NCTU) Northern Mindanao coordinator Joel Gabatan said they would rather stage an indefinite rest rather than face fine once the Land Transportation
Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) pushes through with Oplan Tanggal Bulok. Gabatan said the P5,000 fine that apprehended drivers would face is too steep for them. He also said jeepney owners dubbed in parlance as “operators” could not afford the estimated bulok/PAGE 11
