Mindanao execs seek investments in Dubai By CARMELITO Q. FRANCISCO, Correspondent

AVAO City -- Top government officials and business leaders in Mindanao are preparing to join the Philippine delegation to the Annual Investment Meeting in Dubai on March 30 to April 1 in a bid to bring in investors from the Middle East to the southern island.
COMMUNITIES in northern Mindanao are getting better services from the centers and institutions run by Department of Social Welfare and Development here. This was issued by Undersecretary Angelita Y. Gregorio-Medel of the DSWD Central Office, after these facilities have been declared to have higher level accreditation. The Regional Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC), a residential facility for children aged 0-7 years old who were declared abandoned, neglected, and abused; Home for Girls, also a residential facility for maltreated and abused female minors; and the Regional Haven for Women, for abused women, were all declared to have third level accreditation.
Coal plant AFTER logging more than one million safe man-hours or “zero accidents” since the start of construction, the Balingasag Thermal Power Plant of Minergy Coal Corporation (Minergy Coal) in Misamis Oriental is now 42.1 percent complete and set for its targeted inauguration in 2017. Composed of three 55MW coalfired power units, the project will feed the power requirements of Cagayan de Oro Electric Power and Light Corporation (Cepalco), whose franchise area covers the City of Cagayan de Oro and adjacent municipalities. Minergy Coal is 40% owned by Vivant Integrated Generation Corporation (VIGC) together with Mindanao Energy Systems, Inc. (Minergy). VIGC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Vivant Energy Corporation which, in turn, is 100% owned by publicly-listed Vivant Corporation.
