Briefly Loan for farmers THE Department of Agriculture in Northern Mindanao (DA-10) has allocated P500 million worth of credit for farmers in the region affected by Typhoon "Odette" last year. In a statement Monday, DA10 Executive Director Carlene Collado said the fund forms part of the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) whose implementation is guided by the Survival and Recovery (Sure) Assistance program across the country, including areas in Norther Mindanao that were declared under state of calamity after the typhoon entered the country in December 2021. “Of the total amount, we have an allocation for Region 10 amounting to P75-M in support of the government’s goal in helping agricultural households badly hit by the typhoon,” he said.

Temporary shelters BUTUAN City – Additional materials for temporary shelters were sent to the typhoonaffected residents in Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte. In a statement Monday, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Caraga (DSWD -13) said non-food items (NFIs) needed for temporary shelters and other basic needs were shipped to Siargao. “A total of 3,368 NFIs were sent to Siargao Island on Sunday that will serve as additional materials for residents whose houses were destroyed by Typhoon Odette last December,” the DSWD-13 said.

Election hotspot THE Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) proposed 21 areas for inclusion in the initial list of election hotspot areas. In an interview Saturday night over the Cabinet Officers for Regional Development and Security (Cords) 10 podcast, PRO-10 director Brig. Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. said the Regional Police Intelligence Committee and the Joint Armed Forces of the PhilippinesPhilippine National Police Intelligence Committee will convene with other agencies and security forces before releasing the list. " We wi l l c o m e t o a n agreement that those are the hotspots and other categorization of our areas," he said in the online show hosted by Recthie Paculba of the Philippine Information Agency-10.

ORONADAL City — Multinational giant fruit producer Dole Philippines, Inc. (Dolefil) has started the commercial operations of its P306million state-of-the-art fresh pineapple packing plant in Wao, Lanao del Sur, officials said.

Cops bust group behind fake vax cards in CDO A GROUP believed to be behind the proliferation of fake vaccination cards in Cagayan de Oro City and nearby areas was busted in an entrapment operation Monday. Three men were arrested here after they were caught making fake coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination cards. Police identified the suspects as Acmad Macapaar Musa, 28; Jamaloden Ampaso Pacasum, 36, both from Marawi City and one Faisodin Dimakuta Comacasar, 32, from Marantao, Lanao del

Sur. The suspects were nabbed in an entrapment operation at the corner of Chavez and Pabayo Streets in Barangay 3. Recovered from the suspects were seven pieces of fake Covid-19 vaccination cards, a bundle of blank white cards, three laptops, two printers, and seven pieces of P500 bills. Police Regional Office-10 s p o k e s p e r s o n Lt . C o l . Michelle Olaivar said further investigation is needed to identify other persons who also engage in making and selling fake vaccination cards.

The Wao Development Corp. (WDC), a subsidiary of Dolefil whose main pineapple processing and canning plant is based in Polomolok, South Cotabato, launched the plant’s operation on Thursday. WDC was registered with the Bangsamoro Board of Investment of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (RBOI-BARMM) in October 2019. WDC’s parent company Dolefil is owned by giant Japanese trading PLANT/PAGE 7
