New shopping mall ALSONS Development and Investment Corp., owner of the iconic Aldevinco Shopping Center here, is in talks with homegrown developer Damosa Land, Inc. (DLI) to open a similar souvenir shop at the latter’s Market Basket complex near the airport. At the recent launching of the refurbished Market Basket, DLI Vice-President Ed O. Villaver said they are eyeing to develop part of the Damosa complex into a “Pasalubong Center,” where tourists can shop for local goods. “It’s already happening now since this is the last junction going to the airport. Everyone that goes to and from the airport can pass by here,” Mr. Villaver said in an interview on the sidelines of the event.

URIGAO City — Prices of nickel export products have continued to plummet in the world market affecting profits of large-scale mining companies, Lilibeth M. Mangsal, district collector of the Bureau of Customs in Surigao City said.

Paris filmfest DAVAO City -- A short film about a physically impaired man living in Davao City’s San Pedro Street is now being screened in 13th Signes de Nuit International Film Fest in Paris, France. The film helmed by Albert Egot Jr. joins seven other films from the Philippines which is currently being shown in the annual film festival that showcases several multi-genre cinematic works from across the world. The festival started last November 26 and will run to December 6. “Ang Baril ni Polding na Walay Pulbura” (The Gun of Polding without Gunpowder) tells the story of John Michael Exel alias Polding, a paraplegic living in the streets of San Pedro and Claveria in downtown Davao City who despite being jobless and homeless still finds beauty in his everyday’s life.
